![]() 1688 forum posts 16 photos | Wife and I both isolating because of health conditions, having to rely, at the moment, on online shopping; trawling through the internet today to find a supplier of gluten free cereals and came across the following on Amazon UK: Nestles Gluten free Honey Corn Flakes £22.89 plus £11.99 delivery (albeit shipped from Greece) usual price in the region of £2.00 This is blatant profiteering and Amazon should be ashamed at being a party to this practice, but on the other hand the owner of Amazon is probably the richest person on the planet and he didn’t get there by being benevolent and not forgetting his Organization is reluctant at best to pay any taxes in countries where they operate. I would bet that the emergency legislation that Parliament has recently passed didn’t provide any measures to tackle profiteering. |

612 forum posts 174 photos | Dave, you don't have to buy it, We have shopped online for groceries for at least the last five or six years and until the Covid-19 outbreak had no trouble getting what we needed. However, as soon as panic buying in the supermarkets stared we noticed people all around us that never, as far as we knew, had home delivery were suddenly getting deliveries thus extending the panic buying to home deliveries. What we have noticed since is that the supermarkets are getting to grips with the situation by limiting deliveries to a maximum of 80 items, since this has been introduced my wife has been able to arrange a delivery slot much sooner than the previous shop which had something like a 10 day wait. Also we were able to get almost everything we needed so I have no doubt that you should be able to get your Gluten free Cereals from the likes of Tesco or Sainsburys fairly easily and certainly a lot cheaper than those shipped from Greece |

2661 forum posts 294 photos | Bob, My wife has had home deliveries from sainsbury for 9 years. Currently no supermarket has delivery slots for here at all as far as their systems allow. Indeed I'd speculate that its ruralism at work again and all the trucks have been moved to urban deliveries. What i don't understand is why no deliver all night too. there must be plenty of truck drivers looking for work with the rest of shops locked down. I'd happily take a 3am slot if I needed stuff. Use the darned trucks 24/7. pgk |

2661 forum posts 294 photos | Waitrose, Morrisons, Iceland don't deliver around here anyway. I may be 70 but I refuse to consider myself vulnerable (yet) or take a slot from someone who might need it more. I have good PPE and commonsense and rural distances reduce hazard (so far). the biggest risk around her is being stuck behind a flock of sheep being walked down the road and starving en route (unless you like raw lamb). pgk |
