I did a 12mm eight start nut a while ago for Mr Rollsy Royce because they couldn't do it.

Not quite got to that standard yet, don't think my internal threading tool would go down that lol, but might have to have a go 😀

It was part of the rise and fall mechanism off one of the crack detecting machines.

Amazing to think they used to rely on specially trained police dogs for that.

Hi Allan,

Thank you so much for those kind words !! Do let us know how the 4 start works out, cutting the inside thread for that should be fun. Did you have any bother fitting the nut to the twin start?

Hi Larry

I will have a play with it early next week and put some pictures up.

I did have to go back to the nut and do another clean up pass on each thread just to ease it off, as in the beginning it was a little tight, but it's now very smooth.

Awesome to say the least!!.... I would love to see a short video of the unit in actual use at the speed of use. It would definitely raise and lower a window in a RR in very short order.

Hi Allan,

That,s exactly what Sparey said about the fit of the nut, that one or other of the threads could be tight, but there was no way of knowing which one,so the only way was to take another pass from one and try it. If that did not work, take a pass from the second thread and try again.

You,ve really got me interested in this stuff now, time to leave the grass for another day. Cheers !
