I knew it was taken from the posts but believe the original author is aware of it being published. As far as I know, nothing wrong has been done or I would not have published it. regards David PS This thread will self destruct (or delete itself) on the stroke of midnight. I hope that you are joking about this thread self destructing at midnight. because if that is the way the board is run I want no further part of it.. ![]() Cheers ![]() Don |

1723 forum posts | Firstly, in no way was I inferring that the editor of M/E was aware of the true background to the submitted artical but more importantly and without "Blabbing", I was aware of the personal demenour of the guy who resurected the engine at the time. Not blowing smoke up Boggies Posterior (Too big anyway) but in similar circumstances, many would have not even started the job.
Surfice to say, I hope Judas enjoys his "Winnings" and his "Trophy" attains the £1600 buy it now price he's put it on the "Flee" for.
Hopefully the "Newbies" will accept this as not the norm of true model engineering spirit and sorry I had to bring this up as I know darned well the true author wouldn't have.

I have no idea what you see as a problem.
Roy is selling a boat on Ebay, so what.
I received the following from Roy before publication.
The engineeer who did the refurb is John Moore, John is not in the best of health at the present, and his wife is very ill but he is quite happy for you to use for your publication,
I also received John's email address.
Roy said he would sort payment out with John.

1723 forum posts | "I have no idea what you see as a problem." This being the case, are all articals described in M/E subject to non authentication?? If so, be prepared to receive a "Few" with similar non aknowledged origins.
Whats the going rate per page now??

65 forum posts | > I have no idea what you see as a problem. The problem I see is that the author of the ME article is claiming the work as his own and not giving the credit to Bogs where it's due. The editor of ME should not have knowingly allowed this deceit to happen. Bogs deserves all the credit and the article should have made very clear to any reader that the author was not the engineer responsible for the work described in the article. |

![]() 3357 forum posts 112 photos 10 articles | Hi There
As the article was a series of posts, I had to edit heavily.
Perhaps my edits inadvertantly changed the context and biased towards Roy doing the rebuild rather than John.
If so this was unintentional.
Yes, the bit about the thread self destructing was a joke.
Page rate is £50 per printed page as it appears in the magazine.
The payment to Roy was made as we only pay one contributor. I think Roy said payment would be sorted out. I certainly would have asked about payment being made to a third party in this situation before printing.

1723 forum posts | My basic wrangle had /has nothing to do with money David, that's down to the conscience of the submitter, it's the fact that the right guy gets the praise for the work done. In the work enviroment, the guys with the biggest gobs always get the praise while the "Indians" (as in cowboys and) get on with it and let the "Chiefs" do the squawking, but to allow this to happen in leisure activities is "A bit thin".
As we are well aware of the sin of Copyright, I give the following (Spullt correctly)
Plagiarise :- " to steal from the writings or ideas of others"
Fits, caps and wear springs to mind.

I will be quite happy to print a who done what paragraph in Model Engineer.
Hopefully the two people concerned can agree on the wording.

263 forum posts | It seems that this has blown up out of all proportions. There is no issue over payments, I never expected any when I gave permission, but if anything is due, then just make it payable to Christies Hospital in Manchester, a registered charity, and send it there. They are the ones who saved my wife's life over last Christmas. The only issues I ever have is if someone uses my material for personal profit. Which in my eyes occured when the boat was offered for sale with a full write up of work done on the engine. So please, let it drop Bogs |
