HI Jamie,

The subscription 'purchases' current issues via Pocketmags. You can access these after the sub ends for as long as you have a Pocketmags account.

At present all the Archive is available for the duration of your subscription.

Hi Neil

I've been looking through the index and there are ME articles from the 1930s I'd like look at. Does the archive go back that far?

best

Jamie

I've taken the plunge and gone for a digital subscription. At a very reasonable £12 it seemed like a worthwhile risk!

I'm looking for a list of past winners at the Model Engineering Exhibition. Would anyone know if a record exists anywhere?

many thanks

Jamie

Also, I'm bit confused about the show. Am I correct that the Model Engineering Exhibition in London is no more and that this has been superceeded by the National Model and Engineering Exhibition in Harrogate?

Greetings, there are two ( or were) separate ME exhibitions, one the London ME exhibition, started at Pickets Lock, moved to Wembley Exhibition centre, then to Ally Pally, where it still takes place in Jan every year. Organised by Meridien Exhibitions, the same organisation that started & still runs the Midlands ME Show.

The International ME Exhibition was first held at the Horticultural Halls, in Westminster, then moved to the Wembley Conference centre, before trying Olympia, Sandown Park Race Course, Ascot Race course, then Brooklands Museum, before all the trophies were passed on to the National ME show, which used to be at Harrogate, before it transfered to Doncaster race course.

I think that's correct, but there might be a few other odd venues.

Regards

Brian

Greetings Brian

Thank you for your answer. This brings much clarity. I've just been reading about the early days of the ME Exhibition in the excellent 100 Years of Model Engineering. There is a fantastic picture of Sir Nigel Gresley driving on the track at the 1937 exhibition.

best

Jamie
