Just for Clarity, 'Homer' are in China, not the UK.

23 forum posts | As Michael you've ordered the kit, and Geoff as you say you have a few, how good are they at keeping time? 15 or so years ago I used an 8 pin PIC to replace the mechanism in a cheap ball bearing clock when the contacts stopped triggering the ball lift arm and driven by a crystal I had to calibrate the system and add a cal factor in the firmware to get to within a minute every 6 months. Nowadays, I just put an RTC on board, which I can't see on those boards. Would be interesting to know if I don't need to! |

As Michael you've ordered the kit, and Geoff as you say you have a few, how good are they at keeping time? [ ... ] . Having only ordered them yesterday: I have no idea how good the timekeeping really is. Chris ... but the ebay listing claims +/- 1second per 24 hours.
D. accurate travel time, travel time error range error -1 to +1 seconds every 24 hours.
Hopefully Geoff can confirm ^^^ I bought them primarily because it's a kit of identifiable parts ... some, or all, of which are sure to be useful. [much easier than trying to hack into an amophous blob of ready-made clock module] MichaelG. [Mildly amused by the change of thread title .... Perhaps the moderator would be so kind as to also remove the original subtitle, which now seems redundant.] |

615 forum posts 21 photos | Hi all, My Practical Wireless article was July 2018. Sorry for the delay in replying, I was distracted, it is our 14th wedding anniversary. I confirm that my clock keeps good time, close enough not to need resetting between power cuts etc., (roughly yearly) There is no backup battery. I don't use the alarm setting, but in another, more complex kit, the alarm time creeps backwards by 1 minute per day.. |
