Does anyone remember MiniBrix? Rubber versions of the original Lego pieces and preceded Lego.
Then there was Bako (I think it was called) small steel rods that fitted into a plastic base and thin slabs that slotted between the rods, mostly for house type structures.

Yes, I remember Bako, had hours of fun with that but it was indeed limited to house type structures. Whilst on the subject anyone remember Brickplayer? Clay based bricks and mortar from wallpaper paste, my mother used to despair at the mess I used to make with it. I've still got the bricks from it and I still haven't come up with a good use for them.

Sorry, I seem to have taken this even further of thread.

Blimey, the the Bugatti Chiron is probably the ugliest dog's breakfast of a car I've ever seen. Makes the Allegro look elegant!

Sorry if I've hurt the feelings of any billionaires out there...

Knew someone with the rubber bricks but only played with it once. Came in a big tube as I recall. The Bako wires are deliberately not standard wire gauge, about 73thou I think so you had to buy from them.
My sister had Bako and Lego hence I consider them girl's toys but I did also have the clay bricks one.

There is often someone at the St Albans MES show on 29/30 Sept this year who builds very large Bako models.

Yes, I remember Minibrix - when I was quite small my neighbour Nigel (my hero - his Dad worked for the LNER at Doncaster!) had a set. I had a Bayko set, which I still have. I also had a Brickplayer set at one point - and a lot of fun mixing up the paste - although flour worked quite well too. To get the building apart again you put it in a large bowl of warm water.

Thought this might be of interest to people. Lego released this model of a Ferguson tractor just a couple of months ago. This was a special edition model and limited to just 80 copies produced. I love the vintage style packaging on this. If ever my Traction Engine was produced then I would love the artwork to be designed in this style.
