Hi Carl,

Thank you for that, i have seen 99% of John's videos and heard Bob mentioned a lot. There are a few steam rallyes near me and was hoping to catch up with John one day and say hi.

Not knowing Bob, i thought it would a little beyond the line just dropping him a message and asking. I know i would not mind but i know some people do. To be honest seeing some of his work that John showed it seems first rate and did think of Bob.

Wonder why I bothered to post a link?????? Err I think KRV who signs his name Bob MIGHT be the same guy. (I know darned well it IS)

Don't think he knows much about Rovers, unless he has a dog.

Martin, it's still not clear what part you mean?

Is it the cover glass? If so a Google search should turn up something suitable.

Might be a gearbox or back axle for a Rover?

Before BAE blew the wheels off the Honda-Rover partnership, you could buy the same basic car from either, as either the Rover 200 or the Honda Civic. The 200 had a the unreliable Rover K Series engine and crap build quality, whereas the Civic had a Honda engine and was built by Honda on their own line. As if that wasn't enough, the Rover actually cost more. Why have cotton when you could have silk.

I was mightily relieved when Rover finally went out of business. It was both a national tragedy (not least for the workforce) and a downright embarrassment - and the people who ran it towards the end (Towers et al) seemed to behave like criminals, selling the assets for their personal gain at the expense of the pensioners.

The Roewe brand lives on in China and we have now started to see some of the new MG vehicles on the roads here. Wouldn't be surprised to find they are better engineered and more reliable than the old Rovers, despite being substantially Chinese.

Do NOT even thinking of buying one of the new MG's.

They've been pushed quite hard over here, considerably cheaper than their Japanese equivelants, but they are not popular. Garbage may be used to describe fit & finish.

Am I alone in feeling that Europe and England seriously underestimated both the Japanese and the Chinese in more ways than one ?

Thanks for the posting the link. I did read the thread and did darw a good concluson it was Bob. I struggle to just message people asking for help. Your time was not wasted nor ignored.

As for rover, i am not sure. I do have a dog called dave.

We have been good at inventing things, its just the Japanese and the Chinese are better at refining. I suspect it is from their schooling and their want to grow. The thing that gets me is that i can purchase BSW bolts from china, cheaper than the uk. Nowt like save the enviroment.
