Duncan Webster's suggestion is by far the best and costs nothing. If you don't have the confidence to do it yourself, stand outside your house, grab the first teenager you see by the scruff of the neck and tell him what you need him to do.

Yeah right and you will have all the time you need to learn about computers while you occupy a prison cell , only thing is under what charge ? Assault ? Attempted abduction or kiddy fiddler ?

Stupid answer .

If i were a teenager walking past your house and you tried that you would have spent a long time in hospital .

I am of course not speaking on Bandersnatch's behalf, but I would have a wild guess that he wasn't literally serious in his comment wink

Back in 2009 [when such things were novel], I bought the then-current version of this: **LINK**

https://www.newertech.com/products/usb_universal_drive_adapter.php

It wasn't cheap, but worked beautifully.

A few years later, I found a knock-off version on ebay ...

Silly cheap, and apparently equally functional.

[sorry, can't find the ebay listing details]

Why not google ICY BOX they are a stand alone unit that's plug in for 2.5 or 3.5 drives

simple usb connection to any platform and it works it all out for you

cheers

If you already have an old desktop it might be possible to plug your hard drives in as second drives. Then you don't need to buy anything at all, take the side off and see if there is a spare plug

Duncan and Mick70, the problem is that these drive look like 2 1/2" and likely have different power feed arrangements to the physically larger drives normally fitted in full sized desktops.

One of these would probably work, but my earlier suggestion is a cheaper option, and has the benefit of leaving Mick with a useful external backup drive.
