7227 forum posts 21 photos | If there was room to store it, I'd buy one of the ash vacuum cleaners. But in stead make do with cheap paint brushes (old, cleaned tooth brushes for things like Leadscrews), followed up with a small mains hand held vacuum cleaner. The long swarf under the lathe is chopped with tin snips, and often swept with a very old dustpan brush, before being persuaded into empty baked bean cans. The contents are then pounded down with a length of 1.5" or 30mm dia steel. When the tin is almost full, the lid is replaced, and the edges bashed over with a hammer, or the lump of bar. Once this has been done, the tin and contents go into the recycling bin. (Bet that someone at the recycling centre wonders what on earth is in there, or maybe the magnet just picks it off into the scrap ferrous material skip) Howard |
