![]() 7468 forum posts 230 photos | I'v made a few filters from brass gauze, the first feww were for a Lanz Bulldog tractor. the initial problem I had was the solder flashing and blocking half the holes, I cured that by drawing a line about a mm from the joint with a pencil. soldering iron, dads old 65W Solon(? spelling), bought about 1936, more than adequate for a filter 1" diameter x 3" long. 31 forum posts 17 photos | If it is brass, it should solder OK with a hot enough iron and some flux. The solder will really wick into it, so maybe you do have stainless or something with a protective lacquer on it. Another approach is solder paste and an oven or hot-air gun. |
