No, but it is true. Come on, we are all grown men around here, just clear the air, draw a line, and move on for chrissakes.

To Ian's point, when we started rolling out eMail at work in the late 80's early 90's, there was quite a bit of the irate "what did you mean by that!!!" going on, when in fact nothing at all was meant, it was just people were not used to the media and needing to understand that eMails need a bit more thought than face to face or even telephone communications. Forums (?) add to the problem in that they are a "one to many" media which increases the issue. The other problem is that the web applications like the one used here are not very good at supporting normal human chatter - the application provides quite an unnatural structure for any discussion, which doesn't help.

I doubt if we were down the pub with a pint, the mis-understandings would have occurred at all.

Thanks Steve, Steven,

What one person may read as trivial may be something deeply emotive to another in the absence of other cues, but no one is forced to take part in this forum, and all users have the right to contribute or not as they see fit.

It is time to move on. I'm locking this thread. Allan, if you do decide to pick it up again, please PM me and I will happily re-open it for you.

Neil
