Thread: Issue Reading New Digital Viewer
30/01/2019 18:27:44

I still can't print when viewing the latest ME issue in the Archive (NOT Pocketmags)...... I do not see any Print option. (or side Menu's)

I have tried in IE and Firefox in Windows 7 .... In Safari on my MacBook

This is what I see

Where do I go from here!!!

Steambuff, despite comments on this thread that Pocketmags is not supported on Mac, I have had no problems with M E 4605 on my IPad.

Hi,

I am using a MacBook (A Laptop) .... Not an iPad running IOS! They are totally different beasts.

Pocketmags works on my iPhone, but I find it too small to read!

Hi,

Neil Said - "Bear in mind this is only the archive viewer, digital subscription and single issues are still viewed via pocketmags." Not totally true ..... Pocketmags is not supported on the Mac or Windows 7 .... Also what about the archive issues - outside my sub period.   So I am stuffed ....

Printing used to work fine on the old viewer ... just click the page to zoom in, then click the Print Tab at the top of ther page.

I now have 2 subscriptions that I can't read easily and can't print at all .....

Thinking of cancelling my subs

Jason,

Have you worked out how to print a page yet?

Dave

P.S I'll try on W10 and MAcBook tomorrow!

Is anyone else having problems reading the latest issue of ME (4605) in the archive under Windows?

The Viewer appears to have been changed ... I get a tiny thumbnail for 30 seconds to a minute then the cover appears but only govering 75% of the height of the screen, along the bottom of the screen is a row of all the pages, so you can go to any page! (A bit like the Exact Editions Viewer)

If you goto a page (you usuall see 2 pages at a time), you cannot read it as it only fills about 75% of the screen .... if you use the zoom control, it become readable but to navigate to another page you have to zoom out again. A real pain!

Also I cannot see how to print a page!

I am using Windows 7 - and have tried Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Older magazines all view OK.

Thread: Use of Colour on Drawings
15/01/2019 17:35:35

My preference is

2D - Just plain black and white lines, as it has been for years

3D - Colour but ensure that it can be printed in Mono OK

i.e. No. 2

Thread: Choosing...

I have a Conway and currently building a Lilla (Both 3 1/2 Gauge) ... Both are Narrow Gauge Hunslet designs, and are quite large, they will both have no problem pulling you and a few extra passengers. (Conway might be the easier one to build and was serialized in ME back in 1980, Lilla was serialized in EIM)

Thread: Learning CAD with Alibre Atom3D
27/10/2018 12:22:34

David, Thank you for your response and email.

You state that the user interface has changed, but can you tell me -

1/ What new features are in Alibre Atom3D that are not in Cubify Design?

2/ What features are in Cubify Design that are not in Alibre Atom3D?

Based on this I can make a decision to upgrade or not .... Is there an upgrade price available?

Thanks

Dave

26/10/2018 18:25:33

I have just obtained my 6 month license key and downloaded Alibre Atom3D.

I failed at the first step .... the install failed .....

I use "Cubify Design" as my 3D CAD package and it appears I have to de-install it if I want to install Alibre Atom3D as the installation process thinks it is an earlier version that it can't upgrade.

I have emailed support, lets see what they say!

Dave.

Thread: A tale of two suppliers
04/10/2018 17:57:32

As Harry said ... the comparison is not really valid as the products were totally different.

Item B was off the shelf ... just pick and pack .... While Item A might have to be cut from a larger piece. (With all the set up that takes)

Delivery time cannot be compared on cost as both might have used different company's

Also assuming the order methods were the same ... both via email or both by supplier order page!

Dave

Supplier A, if a metal merchant could have to cut your piece of brass from a larger piece, time taken to do this would depend on their work load.

Tracy would just go to a tub take your bits and pop into a Jiffy bag.

Delivery time depends upon the method used ... so can't blame the supplier for that.

Jason's point is also valid ... people don't work weekends.

Thread: A Big Treat coming for Readers of MEW
02/10/2018 22:01:47

Does anyone know how Atom3D compares with '3d Systems Cubify Design'?

Looking at the history they both seem to have the same origins.

Is it going to be worth £200 to upgrade? In fact is it going to be worth me downloading the trial? Are MEW subscribers going to get a discount when the trial period ends?

Thread: Magzine reader now not working?
05/12/2017 18:27:09

Hi,

I can access the archive (ME + MEW) on my desktop using Windows 7 + Firefox.(Version 57.0.1 64-bit)

I had to activate Flash the first time I tried, there is about a 5-10 second delay before the cover is displayed but I can read the issues OK (Well I only tried the latest 2-3 of ME & MEW)

Many thanks for this on a Saturday evening. It is appreciated. I didn't really expect anything till Monday.

Neil,

Can you also enable ME 4572 as that is not there either! (4571 and 4573 are)

Thanks

Dave

But it is not in the magazine archive on this site.

(Can't use PocketMags as they withdrew support for Win 7 sometime ago)
