Thread: BT e-mail |

Also most email programs gives the user the option of either "Auto Sending Read Receipt", "Prompt to send Read Receipt" (The receiver can refuse) or "Never to send Read Receipt" I have Outlook set to "Never Send Read Receipt" So it would be a bit Hit and Miss if you get a response or not. Most Companies disable the sending of Read Receipts as it tells spammers the account is active. Dave

Hi, Take a look on the PNP Railways web site ... Look at their Video on fitting fish-plates, they recommend 3mm for their aluminium rail. Dave |
Thread: PC unable to read PNY flash card |
05/11/2020 11:41:09 |
Posted by HOWARDT on 05/11/2020 10:30:20:
Format of card is hardware system related, so embedded software. Operating system has no effect ... If the card had been written in a Linux/unix format (i.e. Not FAT32) Windows will not be able to read it. Also if it has been written in Windows exFAT format. it will may be readable under older Windows versions. (I have a USB Drive that is readable in Win 10 but not Win 7) Dave |

Was the card written in a format that your PC can read? What operating system and version wrote the card? (Mac, PC, Windows/Linux etc) What version of Windows are your 2 PC's running? Dave |

I would check the other two diodes as well ... in fact I would replace all three! Dave |
Thread: Parcelforce or DPD |
28/10/2020 20:25:04 |
DPD everytime for me .... They always deliver on the time they say. Parcel Force is a bit hit or miss .... sometimes OK but I have had multiple late deliveries for example the order for the two books from Arc last week ... Ordered over the weekend .. Shipped Parcelforce 24 on the Monday ... Arrived Swansea depot at 3am Tuesday morning ... Sat there all day (according to their tracking) - They flagged it as Address error/issue - Went out on van Wednesday (Got the text giving me the window - usual driver) but it never came - again flagged as address error, was finally delivered on Thursday morning. [The address on the parcel was correct and complete] Regards Dave (In rural Wales) |

This is what is says on his web site - As from 31st January 2017, I will not be accepting orders for the new construction of any products except water gauges. These will still be available for the forseeable future, as of course, will any other products which happen to be left in stock. I hope that more time will enable me to finish some projects, so that limited runs of new wagon kits may appear over time. I would like to gratefully thank my customers for their support and patience over the years, and if the product range is taken over, details will be posted here. Dave |

Hi, Why not look at getting a Skype phone number? Not sure what the cost is. You then answer the call on your PC/Laptop/Tablet etc Dave |
Thread: Printing from Digital Archive |
28/06/2020 18:40:19 |
Posted by JasonB on 27/06/2020 10:16:19:
You will be able to print from the archive except for about the last 8months when the reader changed. The reader was changed to a non-flash reader in Mid-January 2019 ... The Print facility from the Archive was removed at this time. You can still print (currently) copies prior to January 2019. Dave |

When you get the new board, look to see if there are any markings on the capacitors, the ones I have seen have a number/code marked on them, which could be a clue to the value/voltage. Dave |
Thread: Digital archive subscription are there any restrictions? |
10/01/2020 12:22:58 |
To add to Jason's comments, Issues in the archive published after early-January 2019 cannot be printed, issues prior to that you can print, but only a single page at a time. [The only way around this for more recent issues is to screen print] Dave |
Thread: Magazine article series. |
09/12/2019 18:27:16 |
Sorry ... This is what I get when taking a screen shot in the MEW archive under Windows 7 and importing into Photoshop. (I think that this is not readable when printed) |
09/12/2019 17:26:55 |
Quality is very poor, unusable in my view. |
09/12/2019 16:23:31 |
Remember that you cannot print articles from the archive that were published mid-January 2019 onwards. (Print facitity was removed) |

Apparently this is a legal principle of insurance that you can't insure something against loss unless you are the legal owner and it is you that will suffer from a loss. Paul.My wife's car that I bought new is registered in my name but my wife is the only driver and she has a fully comp policy on it. It was done like this because I bought it for her as a birthday surprise. The insurer knows this and is perfectly happy with it. I am the owner, she is the insured. Since you registered the car in your name you are the Keeper .... But, since you gave your wife the car as a present .... She is now the owner! Dave |
Thread: Is Buying a used live steam loco cheaper than building one? |
10/08/2019 18:26:21 |
Why not look at a Loco kit .... Polly Engineering for example. Not cheap but you will get the support (UK based) if you have an issue. Dave Edited By Steambuff on 10/08/2019 18:27:26 |

Why don't you plan a weekend away in Kent with SWMBO and then deliver them in person? Cost of of the fuel might be less than that of a courier! Dave |
Thread: What is the cheapest coal fired live steam locomotive? |
24/05/2019 18:05:11 |
Simon, I think we need a little bit of information from you .... What are your 'Railway' interests ... Standard or Narrow Gauge .... GWR, SR, Welsh, Quarry etc What do you want to do with it ... Ride behind it or sit in a deck chair and watch it go round? Where are you planning to run it? Is their any physical size/weight/cost limits? I own 16mm (SM32) + 3.5" + 5" gauge Coal fired Loco's (Both purchased RTR and Home Made) Dave |
