Thread: What is this for please?

Looks like a pump of some kind, possibly double acting unless the piston has a non return valve built in to allow single acting. Nathan.

Thanks Robbo but that is RFA which is a gaming file. I need .rfa to open a BIM file from heatrae sadia to read the spec and installation instructions for their Megaflow water heaters. Nathan.

Thread: Opening .rfa files

I need to open a few files with the extension .rfa which is I think an Autodesk extension. I've been to the Autodesk site to try and download a trial but no trial is available for my operating system. I'm running Win 10 32bit. Any advice (apart from changing the OS!) would be welcome. Nathan.

Which version Neil? For the Kingsmen I can get away with Am/D/Em/C (on Guitar) for a suitably amateur sound ! Nathan.

Thread: Timing Belts
06/10/2016 19:51:40

Hi Bruce, try looking at power tool parts lists (Dewalt/Elu/Makita etc) lot's of them use urethane toothed belts for power transmission on planers/sanders/thicknessers. My cheapo belt sander, my Dewalt thicknesser and several other tools use easily available belts. Nathan.

Thread: Sweating Plastic
24/09/2016 18:34:31

Well I finally got round to contacting Tesco who , as expected , were more interested in proof of purchase than anything else . When I mentioned that I was worried that the "leachate" could be toxic/carcinogenic they started to listen. Their "service engineers" answer was that it was the fire retardant in the plastic casing sweating out and that I should just wipe it off and forget it . I have told them to escalate the incident to an "over 12 months assessment" and to get me the safety data on the "fire retardant" . I'm not going to let it drop and will go via Trading Standards if required to find out what is going on . No hard plastic should degrade to this extent in 5 years in a domestic situation. Nathan.

No sweaty plastic explosive or kids!

Michael W, It contains nothing and is "just" the rear cover for the TV.

Geoff, Nothing exuding from any of the circuit boards in fact there is no sign of any staining or liquid anywhere apart from this cover .

It's not food or drink of any type, could the plastic be breaking down? Nathan.

11/09/2016 11:15:31

Do any of you have experience of plastics exuding liquid? I moved the TV yesterday to do some work on the wall behind it and found my hands were wet with a brown sticky liquid a bit like spilt Coke. Thinking is was Coke I removed the rear casing from the TV and washed it with water/bathroom cleaner, rinsed it and left it to dry overnight. This morning I found the "Coke" stains had returned and it was sweating from what appear to be blisters in the material, both inside and outside surfaces are affected. I suspect that Tesco will not want to know now that the set is 5/6 years old. Could it be dangerous/toxic ?

Thread: Adobe/Photoshop/CS2
05/09/2016 20:29:32

Thanks for your interest John . I am finding it more than capable of doing what I ask from it . The job for swmbo was just a batch of notelets personalised for each recipient ( family who made our trip great ) after the second visit to a family she only discovered last year after many years searching through paper relics and eventually a "final attempt" trip. So, only a job of minor importance ! The last contact ( in what was East Germany) was is 1958 and the search was based on a photograph showing a young family member born in 1940 .

Thanks to all for your help/suggestions.

Thanks to you all for your input. The problem no longer exists, I uninstalled CS2 and started to use a free version of PSP 6 which has just been upgraded to PSP 9 FOC ! Not quite as good as CS2/Photoshop but easily good enough for my use. Don't ask where I got PSP 6 from because I just cannot remember, I just launched it and got the "enter your product key" page which it populated without me doing anything,it then restarted as PSP 9 full install ! This happened after looking at buying the software and during a Win 10 update in the background. Now I'm wondering what would happen if I look at my bank account during a Win 10 update!

Hi Francis and thanks for the reply. I have the full version of CS2 etc which I downloaded from a legal source by following a link posted here. My problem is remembering where the license key was obtained (legally) , it all used to work until I transferred it to my archive drive and then removed it from my main hard drive !

I may have to buy a newer version.

Nathan.

Can someone point me at the posting on here giving a link for the Free version of the above? I saved mine to an archive drive and cannot remember how I got hold of a license key or how I activated it. As you'll gather from the above I don't use it very often but I need it now to help swmbo !

Nathan

Edit to correct spelling mistake.

...Gone are the days when a rectum analyser would cost more than your house....

There has to be joke in there somewhere but I just can't seem to bottom it out...

Roderick,,you just haven't anal ised it yet !

Spent today as the previous few days, removing the top 2mtrs of growth from leylandii by hand at 10/11mtrs height. We should have thought for longer 40 years ago before planting them but the Goldcrests and Long Tailed Tits love them. Many trailer loads of foliage to the council yard and some mediocre fire wood for us later this winter. I ache ! Dr Beam is on standby after I've showered.smiley

Class B is best described as SLOW rise (Amps) fast trip, Class C as FAST rise slow trip. So Class C can allow for the initial start current on single phase motors which is generally high but safe. Class C is usually called/remembered as Motor Rated and Class B as Domestic rated. Nathan.

Thread: Does anyone use the 'My Friends' feature of this forum?

I've got one friend.....................

More than I used to have!

Because of the surname interest (my very late Mothers) I've logged in and checked who is/was online every time, and have today remained logged in and refreshed my connection frequently but, he does not appear nor does he have a public profile.

He could be an older family member or not.I don't know her family as they disowned her. I suppose I could also be paranoid about who is looking for me and what info they could gain from public forums. Thankfully they can gain the knowledge that I don't do facebook or the like and have never been anything other than me ( quiet, arrogant, self effacing, loudmouthed etc) and these are just the terms in which SWMBO describes me on a daily basis!

I suppose he'll get in touch sometime, won't you Cliff Sweeting?

Nathan.

Very strange, had a friend request on here 06/03/16 . I replied asking where he was and why the request but the message remains unread . The surname was of interest to me which was what surprised me . IF he reads this perhaps he should open his inbox.

No one has asked to be my friend since I was a five year old !
