Thread: Sony RDR-HXD890 Hdd & DVD player
21/07/2013 12:31:15

Looking into this a bit more it appears Sony transmitted a update to some of there T2 HD receivers yesterday but the update call transmitted activated a number of receivers for which the update was not intented for and has currupted the epg firmware i would of thought sony would be making this a piority fix but booking firmware downloads over the air takes time. As suggested use France and the recordings will be fine and unaffected by a firmware download.

Regards Rob.

As a tradesman using these tools daily Bosch are ok but the best by far is a Makita i have two of these and they have never failed me, i would steer clear Dewalt tho.

Thread: Motion dampers
09/03/2013 10:30:32

R.C. model cars they are avalible in all different sizes (usual scales 1:10, 1:8 & 1:5) and the ones used for racing are fully ajustable in compression and rebound with internal ajustments to the piston, most model r.c. shops carry different wights in oil avalible to fill the dampers too. My 1980,s tamiya hotshot has ajustable dampers. Rob (ex model r.c. off road racer)

Thread: Whistle problem

Thread: Britan Lathe - New Lathe Day
23/10/2012 19:42:13

Very nice, very heavy, reminds me that im moving in 2 weeks (bucks to beds) and my current workshop sits on a raised part of my garden about 2ft above the main area, by the time ive stripped all i can from the lathe it weighs in at just over 1/2 a ton. im really not looking forward to moving it.

Thread: where will the next generation of engineers come from
25/09/2012 20:29:25

At 35 i to came tho the playstation generation, from a young age i had an ablity to understand electrical and mechanical systems & problems, this was not nurtured tho school (Which is still a problem with the current education system) but as a direct result of my desire to read and where possible in my spare time practise the princables i learned. With a great deal of knowlage passed on by my father a welder, fabricator at BR Wolverton and the local, older, wiser generation with experiance of Aston Martin. Where am i now, i can turn, mill, ect i have a skilled job that involves electronics, machanics but i dont know anything really about CAD, due to perhaps my lack of intrest in the computer generation (im reading up on this at the moment), my son is intrested in what i do and i intend to pass on as much knowlage as i can to him, and hope his intrest stays. My brother is 19 and he is just starting a motorsport development course at collage, he wont be going anywhere near a manual lathe or mill, which will teach basic machining princables but instead will go straight to programming a CNC machine, madness in my eyes.

Thread: Better Photos
13/06/2012 21:02:02

Im not a camera expert, but the orange tinge to the light source in the picture looks to me, to be sodium discharge lamps, as used in most street luminares and found in large halls. Very efficent but what a horrid colour temperature.

Thread: digital tv switchover
24/02/2012 14:23:15

just had this sent to me and thought i might share it. http://www.electronicsweekly.com/Articles/23/02/2012/53048/4g-transmitters-will-affect-tv-reception.htm.

For those who dont know 4G is the latest mobile phone network standard to be launched, as always we are one of the last country's to adopt it, i feel sorry for those who will be affected and as for the people who cant be helped, well total madness in my eyes.
