Thread: If epoxy adhesives fail to set within 24 hours, is there any hope that they will EVER do so?
16/02/2022 21:13:27

Epoxy reacts with prolonged setting when:

- not mixed thoroughly or in bad proportions. Mix to white or even colour. I often add a small part (less than 3%) of paint (artist oil coolurs) to help securing an even mix.

- to low temperature. Place near heating or rise the temperature in the room.

- addition of an inhibitor of any kind. Start over again.

From my experience, if an inhibitor is mixed in by fault, and if not fully cured within 24 hours, you have to start over again. I have also experience an accelerator mixed in by fault, and it set in seconds during mixing.

Any language, depending on the listener I think. !!!! Except for the Swedes where they are told that a laughter should be short and military, Ha! Ha!

You guys do realise that anyone reading/replying to this thread provides an infiltration path for this elf/gremlin?

Oh.

Then I am happy to tell we don't have any elf or gremlin here in this country, only troll and nisse. But they do have the same behaviour, hiding your tools and parts, when looking around you only hear a gleeful laugh from behind a shelf.

Of course it may become increasingly desireable to be able to print coal

;O)

Living in Texas?

No coal for firing? Then use coke !

Here we wish it could print electricity instead of using it.

The toolholders and toolpost are Siegs design, they do different sizes for different size lathes. They work moderately well but are not as good as some of the better quality QCTPs.

cheers

Bill

Yes, a Sieg design from some years ago. Little Machine Shop is selling Sieg stuff.

I have Emco and A&R QCTPs on my lathes and lot of tool holders, so I will try sell the surplus from the lot. I think they are not in sale anymore so hope to find a chap that still has and use them.

There a lot of similar collet chucks on the market. They are definitely not ER type collet. They resemble Acura grip or TG collets but my not be compatible with either system.

I think the ones shown are known as Oz collets.

OZ collets it is, thank you.

Terje

29/10/2019 12:04:50

The collets are all part of the box in photo 5. Metric set of 3,4,6,8,10,12,16 mm collets with milling chuck MT3? and spanner. Unused still oiled and in plastic bags.

Some more photos. Any help to identify them are apreciated.

As part of a lot obtained some months ago I found three set of toolings whch I have not seen before.

img_20190810_105407371.jpg

The chuck backplate was mounted to the 125mm chinese chuck but to put on which lathe.

img_20191015_131131794.jpg

img_20191015_131153257.jpg

The QCTP has a geometry unknown to me. Any sugestions.

img_20191015_131331603.jpg

The collet set is not an ER set but what type of collets. Longer than my ER32.

img_20191015_131458173.jpg

All are unused and in good conditions. Bought from Little Machine Shop, USA some years ago the seller said. Searched the site but could not find them.

I hope for some help as I intend put them up for sale and like to have some information in the ad.

Rest of the lot will be put into good use in my workshop.

Yes, we had a similar reaction with the supply of Lathes by Matrix Churchill to Iraq for making "Big guns" Problem I found was his "Reported" Don't care who buys them attitude.

Reminds me of Tom Lehrer singing:

"Once the rockets are up, who cares were they get come down ?

That's not my department" says Werner von 'Braun.

Thread: Do ML7 tool-holders fit Emco QCT
11/04/2013 21:12:32

dickson-style-quick.jpg

The answer to my OP is yes, if you by them from A&R Precision.
Information from forum members and A&R Precision together resulted in my decision for an order. The parcel landed a week ago and today I could test them. They fit one hundred per cent with the Emco tool post and tool holders. Now I can mount one toolpost on my Emcomat 7L and one on my Emco Maximat V10p. I will shim the tool posts up so the top is exactly the same hight over center on both lathes. Then I can use all tool holders on both tool posts..

Thread: pcb guillotine blades
22/11/2012 13:42:56
Posted by Douglas Johnston on 21/11/2012 13:53:21:

Hi Terje,

The guillotine you have is the exact one I tried to make a copy of, using a couple of photographs found on a website. If you have time could you possibly make a few measurements which would assist me in making my one work. The main dimensions I would like to have are these:-

(1) diameter of the two vertical pillars

(2) diameter of the horizontal bar that the handle is fixed to

(3) the centre to centre distance of one of the links connecting the horizontal bar to the top of the upper blade carrier

(4) the same dimension for one of the links connecting the end of the horizontal bar to the block at the top of the vertical pillar

(5) the distance from the centre of a vertical pillar to the centre of where the previous link pivots

If you can oblige I will be most grateful,

Doug

Hi Doug

If I understand you correctly the dimensions are:

1 - 25mm

2 - 20mm

3 - 52mm

4 - 25mm

5 - 35mm

If you send me your email adress in a PM I will return a scan of the instruction sheet.

If anyone has access to a pcb guillotine (or even a sheet metal one) I would love to know what angle they use beween the two blades as I suspect I made the angle too shallow in my design.

Doug

Hi

I have Model 45 from Mega-UK

The blade rise at an angle of 10mm to 135mm. It has served me well for 16 years in cutting pcb, brass and alu.

Thread: Do ML7 tool-holders fit Emco QCT
29/09/2012 17:25:57

Thank you for your answers,

The Emco toolpost looks exactly like the one advertized by RDG tools on ebay:

**LINK**

28/09/2012 00:16:22

I was given an Emco QCT and five tool-holders for my maximat V10P . I need more holders but they seem all to be gone from Ebay.

When looking at the Dixon type toolpost and holders for ML7 they look very similar. The Emco is a Dixon style I think. The Emco QCT are stamped S00/M MA. The Chronos type for ML7 is called T00 DIXON STYLE.

From Chronos I have got the overall dimensions for their ML7 QCT and tool-holders. In size they are quite close but as always "Devil is in the details" The details are the T-slot and angels in the interlocking and aligning part.

Does anyone here know if it will fit?
