Certainly looks like the rail has slots milled into their width and very thin bearings put into the slot. Otherwise, could the bearings be running on the flange of the wheels, in which case you only need to lift the loco a few thou , enough to give you clearance from the rails. The front and rear bogies could be left on the rails. |

Customs aren’t so tight as you think! Under 3 cm thick goes as a letter. The odd screw or two passes ok . |

I guess these are no good to you? #8-32 Csk cross point x 1/2". How many did you want as I have a few and would post to Italy from France (no UK borders). Bob Edited By Speedy Builder5 on 08/06/2023 08:26:36 |
Thread: What did you do today? 2023 |

It's been on my to do list for 50 odd years now (and a couple of lathes) and that was to fit a dedicated earth from the workshop distribution box to the lathe. The existing earth comes from the same box, via a socket, emergency STOP switch, No Volt contactor box, FWD / Off / REV switch, and then to the motor. Its been a long time since I have had the tops off some of the switches and I can't remember where the first earthing point occurs. Yesterday, I fitted a dedicated earth between the headstock and the distribution box - happy once again! Bob |

Look up GASOGEN on the internet or GASOGEN for cars etc. There are some modern pickup trucks in USA using them.

Thread: Boxford - South Bend Interchangable? |

The other way around, I put a Boxford head and gearbox onto a Southbend bed without any difficulty 30 years ago. |

We have a small piece of land which we garden some distance from the house. Over the past few days I have made a composting toilet, all in its own "sentry box". The last thing to do was to cut a small rectangular hole in the wooden wall. Using a small chain saw and working from inside the toilet, I cut three of the cuts to make three of the sides of the hole but whilst cutting the 4th and last side, I came across a harder bit of wood - but I persevered. Imagine how stupid I felt when I inspected the hole from the outside to see that the "hard" piece of wood was actually the aluminium ladder propped up against the side of the toilet. Next job is to repair the ladder !! (name withheld ) |
Thread: What are these used for |

Michael, KR Whiston - Stockport. What ever happen to that catalogue, thousands of items for not too much. I still use my ruberised air hose purchased 60 years ago and no sign of it perishing still. Bob Edited By Speedy Builder5 on 23/05/2023 18:27:30 |

Thread: Cables |
15/05/2023 06:43:39 |
I find generally that cables are too short or not flexible when cold . Antex soldering irons obviously know that their standard cables are stiff when cold and sell the same iron with a more flexible cable with an uplift in price. Bob |
Thread: Turning down backplates |
12/05/2023 12:33:11 |
You could trepan the "outer ring" away from the backplate, but by the time you have ground up a special tool and then found no use for the 'ring' you would question why! |
Thread: Warco WM18 Y Axis power feed project |
12/05/2023 12:29:52 |
I assume you have a DRO on the Y axis and that is why the dial is obscured? Can you disengage the stepper motor and if so, how did you do that please? Bob |

Your bags are called DOYBAGS I believe. You could do worse by contacting a food company that uses them asking kindly for their help - they might even put you in touch with one of their retired engineers. Wishfull thinking Bob |
Thread: Manu , un petit Francais! |

Edited By Speedy Builder5 on 01/05/2023 15:55:15 |

Thread: Nut and Bolt supplier UK. |

Buy longer 9mm bolts, saw the end off and re-thread 9 x 1.0. 30 bolts like that would not take too long - less time than the length of this discussion. Bob |
