Thread: Yaskawa VS mini J7 inverter
15/09/2016 12:11:39

John it's set to 50% according to johns list defaults zero so a previous owner has set it high

15/09/2016 10:12:55

After seeing johns list of settings it's iikely to be N31 which over rides N14

14/09/2016 15:51:52

I have a few of these fitted to various machines

so if you want to post what you are having trouble with or you can pm me for my phone number

I find them one of the more problematical inverters to program however

Thread: Running several 3 phase machines

I have 18 motors in my workshop all running off individual VFD's

For the cost of inverters/vfd's secondhand on ebay they about the cost of a decent plug and socket

out of perhaps 30 bought i've not had a dead one

mostly i have paid 20-30 £ each

and you can then tune each vfd to each motors charecteristics

I'm sure if you are carefull then using one will work but beware powering up an unconnected vfd they apparently dont like it though i have never tried it

Thread: Things to save from a CRT TV being scrapped
07/09/2016 19:53:21

Thor the screen that I eventually smashed had glass on the front that was 12mm thick it was a flat screen though I just thought that all CRT were like that that's why they were so heavy

07/09/2016 17:07:19

My father always used to warn against CRT's imploding a while ago I disposed of one in a skip and decided to see how easy it was to break it

It took serious effort with a large stone thrown with much force 5 times as I remember

Safety procedures were taken I hasten to add

Thread: Most blatant Ebay hacking attempt

Raymond

He won't ask for your details he will give you his bank details or want you to pay by western union etc he will appear very plausible

04/09/2016 16:35:57

I had actually bid some of his items up to £1500 ish with some other person who was wise to what he's doing

The auctions have been cancelled by him to sell as a BIN for presumably £1200 ish

04/09/2016 16:01:04

Unfortunately he's "sold"120 items today so even if only 2 has followed through with a payment hoping for a bargain he's still made a killing

04/09/2016 15:39:57

I don't think for a moment that Jim Bob is aware of what's happening...

He sells Mamod stuff if he's lucky he gets £10 for something...he's built up a good feedback

He somehow has given a hacker his password who has taken over his account and then listed 5 pages of very expensive goodies and all in different categories ...cameras sewing machines technical equipment etc

Who would have 400 items like this for sale at anyone time?

All the goods are very high end and he leaves a carrot of contact by email to BIN

He will want payment by bank transfer and that's the last you would see of your money and certainly no goods

04/09/2016 11:31:18

item number works for me

Seller is jim99bob

04/09/2016 11:08:25

item number as belowHave a look at the stuff that this guy is selling

272363236530

Then look at his feedback

Thread: Places to buy industrial machines - i.e. avoiding eBay
12/08/2016 10:05:16

I generally go each month if there's something that takes my fancy. I have had some phenomenal bargains

This is a proper old school auction in a small unit with people stood around and each lot takes 15 seconds no messing about.

They are distress auctioneers which is why you don't get much notice ...catalogue on Friday viewing on Monday auction on tuesday

The goods are scattered around the room unless they are at a closed down company like the lathe stuff

For example there's a startrite table saw I would expect that to sell for £60 ish going on previous prices I have seen at ewb's auctions

12/08/2016 06:52:05

Heres a heads up for a proper auction...prices are as cheap as they get usually

sorry you dont get much notice

its on tuesday in sheffield

lots of lathes and everything else an engineer needs

If you get truly stuck I can call and fix...no fix no charge...

Where are you Raymond?

Thread: ARC-Safety Concern - 80mm 4 Jaw Independent Chuck-China
02/07/2016 11:51:18

Whilst I certainly applaud the recal of a potentially unsafe product why does the bending of those fingers make the jaws bell out?

Does the slides in the chuck body and the jaws themselves not make the jaw sit at 90 dog to the body?
