Thread: ER Collets |

I deliberately didn't mention any other sizes/things as your question requested but agree with everything Richard said |
03/01/2017 12:42:17 |
If you only will ever need to hold up to 16mm then go for ER25 if you need to go up to 20mm then you need ER32 simple really |
Thread: Wiring NVR Switch |
01/01/2017 10:41:09 |
Both of your switches pictured above (old and replacement) are designed for 3 phase use so disregard the colours used. Is ok to just use 2 of the connections for live and neutral but you Must have a permanent continuity for the earth from the plug to the machine body and any load connected ( motor ,light etc). I.e. Don't switch the earth connection |
30/12/2016 12:34:28 |
Just add an earth point on the machine body and connect to the earth wire from the plug and link the earth to the wire going to the motor and also a wire from body to the motor frame as well if its a resiliant mount That switch you have bought does not need an earth connection anywhere ( to the switch mech ) Edited By Ian Parkin on 30/12/2016 12:35:46 Edited By Ian Parkin on 30/12/2016 12:37:44 |

Thread: Need help on wiring a three phase motor |
05/12/2016 16:05:33 |
That's a standard plate use on those type of motors the N does stand for neutral it's the star point which doesn't have anything connected to it...remove the 3 wires from that point and determine which pair is which and the connect the other end of the red connection to the yellow the other end of the yellow to the blue and the other end of the blue to the red connection.... connect your 3 live from your inverter to the 3 terminals and you good to go |
05/12/2016 15:48:01 |
Yes your input wires go one on each terminal and earth to the body. To reverse change any 2 lives over.. You need to check which pair of wires are which , it should say on the underside of the terminal lid or you can use a meter to determine the pairs then connect in a delta pattern and connect to the nodes |
Thread: What Did You Do Today (2016) |

I did say that he had credited gary for the project in my post But have you read the article by gary in digital machinist Neil? But I still stand by my comment that if Carl hasn't read or seen the article and yet managed to come up with exactly the same diagram of the circuit layout and linked to the software download I cant believe that
|
03/12/2016 12:31:10 |
I'll say no more on the matter but I find its absolutely unbelievable that you had not seen Gary Limings article before writing your article..even some of the diagrams are the same How you could use his software and description of its use without reading his article is beyond me
|
03/12/2016 11:53:42 |
Carl Whilst I did enjoy your article its almost a word for word copy of Gary limings article in digital machinist magazine winter 2013 Is this ok to republish the article in MEW? I know you credited gary in places and he has allowed the use of his software download Edited By Ian Parkin on 03/12/2016 11:56:20 Edited By Ian Parkin on 03/12/2016 12:18:13 |
Thread: Using a debt collection agency. |
30/11/2016 19:27:13 |
Sam Ballifs are utterly useless and cost you £50 a time If someone owes you £3k you don't want it at £5 a month If you get a ccj and the debtor doesn't respond take it to the high court and then sherrifs and get a result....but only if he has assets |
30/11/2016 19:24:43 |
I'm afraid mark you are stuffed if he has lots of ccj's and no ready cash or assets...so as you say another wont bother him. If you think he does have assets then you can go via the county court then high court then sherrifs..they don't mess about...see the tv programmes... But if at the end he doesn't have any assets then its just bankruptcy and that will cost you..for your debt of £3k it may cost you £400 to get to the end of the sherrifs if you do it yourself more if you let a debt collector do it but you get it back if you are successful ....making someone bankrupt is £750 iirc Ian |

Re his article i read somewhere this week the difference between a rule and a ruler Does any one else know that a rule starts at the end of the blade and a ruler may have a short start before the markings start |
Thread: Using a debt collection agency. |
28/11/2016 14:22:17 |
It was a medium sized co that got into trouble and the boss ( at the time) was paying only they who shouted loudest or sued. I agree it would have been far better to pay before it even went to court as it basically cost them an extra £1k in fees etc.but that's what it needed. They then went on to pay my fees that i had lost and now back on track as one of my better customers and on 30 day terms. As I said Thomas higgins were really good throughout the whole process |
28/11/2016 13:41:02 |
I used Thomashiggins.com to recover a debt of over £1500 from a company that i knew had the money. Its all online every step of the way and it went from letters before proceeding to county court to high court to sherrifs calling No cons at all all pricing is transparent and the only possible con with any type of debt collecting is if the debtor doesn't have the funds ...in that case you have to settle with making them bankrupt..which doesn't really help you

I recently (3 months ago ) bought the pc based one you linked to in the OP it installed but it was a bit of a faff so I sent it back and bought the New Hantek DSO5102P USB Digital Storage Oscilloscope 2CH100MHz which is far superior as a stand alone unit. I also have the DSO 138 kit scope which i tend to use on site jobs for checking encoders etc great little thing for £16 ish |
