Can you show a link to a plasma/welder? |
12/01/2020 18:47:01 |
Nigel b plasma cutters and welders are very different in operation and currents I’m not aware of any dual purpose machines at all plasma’s are generally in these small hobby machines only 40 amp mig welders you want 80+ It will be interesting as to what turns up in store as the description is all mig wireless welder and the pics all plasma cutter Edited By Ian Parkin on 12/01/2020 18:47:41 |

. A 3 phase motor with 240v windings which it must have to work on single phase will not have the same torque as a 3 phase motor connected to a 3phase supplied inverter. Why is this Steviegtr? |

Well those photos are of a plasma cutter |
Thread: VFD Question |
10/01/2020 10:13:09 |
Steviegtr so just to be clear a 750watt motor running delta connected to a single phase VFD outputting 240v and a 750 watt motor running star to a VFD outputting 415v but fed from 415 3 phase
which one has more starting torque? And why?
And Like NDIY i have run many 415v star connected motors of a single phase VFD outputting 240v with no apparent detriment

Your thermal overload may only be thermostat in the windings it’s hard to see from your photo how many wires dive into the motor itself your current is marked as 6.9 so you need an overload say about 7.5 or so |

I wouldn’t bother with any washers on that job if you have bought cap head screws (alum) allen heads? i would use a touch of locktite on the threads |

Clive
the round cylinder mounted on the side is a capacitor which kicks the motor to start in the right direction. that motor you have is a French one ..they always seem to be able to do things electrically differently than anyone else. the switch is a contactor with a rotary start switch and it only relies on the plug fuse for overload protection a modern starter has a thermal adjustable trip to protect the motor better. its best to look after that motor as it will be difficult to replace.. as its double ended ? |

Clive you can wire in as many stop switches as you desire in series with the stop switch in the diagram. its always best to put an overload in as well with a motor (although one wasn’t there with original switch) I didn’t mean a pendant coming down from the ceiling (though nothing wrong with that) just a small box with start and stop buttons on a trailing wire and a magnetic base so it can be stuck somewhere convenient whilst you use the part of the combination machine you need |

The original switch is a nvr so Daveb,s suggestion won’t work. i would replace the switch with a contactor and then place as many fixed stop switches around the machines as you feel you need then have a start and stop switch on a pendant that you can place next to the particular machine you are using The idea of having fixed stops is so you can be sure you can get to one in a panic if the pendant moves Edited By Ian Parkin on 03/01/2020 06:16:42 |

Steve i’m sure that the battery’s have been totally flat for years the dates on the ones i removed were 95 and 03 machines been switched off every night for years |
02/12/2019 21:14:43 |
Mike no nothing.... backup or means just strange that 2 machines in different locations have done the same within days of each other after working fine for years just coincidence? we will have to get machines agents in Edited By Ian Parkin on 02/12/2019 21:15:17 |

Has anyone any experience with Mitsubishi plcs i have 2 machines both very different which have both got the same problem the plc isn’t running and the prog light is flashing. both batteries were long dead operators say they been like that for years. i have replaced battery’s so that error has gone both machines have operated for years perfectly well one for 25 years the other 15 years do they lose the program? Is that what’s happened here? |

Did you start the lathe with the red ball hanging over the end of the splash tray and start power feeding towards the chuck? |
