Hi all. Guess what? This morning everything works a it should. The vernal equinox fairies must have been at work.

But thanks again for the interest shown.

Thanks for all suggestions. I've even removed batteries from both handsets and unplugged the base unit.

It's still the same, I think I'll just have to live with it. At 89 it should last me out.

Thanks again

Not got another phone I could try. It only started doing it on Monday. The phone is still useable but it is annoying

Good morning friends

I have a BT 4600 cordless phone. The dialling tone is intermittent as if I had a call on my answering machine. I use BT 1571 not the answering machine on the phone. There is not a call there. I have two handsets and it is the same on both. I contacted BT and all they can come up with was. cancel 1571 and use the answering machine on the phone.

Anyone got ant ideas please

Thread: Copper or Brass for a bluing tray

You can use the brass shavings as often as you like, they are only to even the heat. I've used fine sand in the past.

It forms a gooey mess which is impossible to remove. Ask anyone who repairs long case clocks.

I probably should said that I have a staking tool. And have made and fitted a chronometer balance staff. Years ago I used to repair watches, main springs and complete balances etc.

Has any of our horologist friends ever removed a broken curb pin from a platform escapement. and replaced it. Any advice would be welcome.
