Thread: Electric vehicles |

Sorry Jason but the ‘e’ tat is/was a farce as it was only a two lap race and you needed two bikes to do that. The last race only had about 4 entrants which led to it being scrapped for the foreseeable future. It’s fairly obvious to me that bike manufacturers are not embracing electric except for commuters especially as the tt races were usually won by private innovators. |

Evan , I think the o rings you are looking for are made from Viton. Just a word of warning, back in the day while still working we received a memo about not touching viton rings that had reached a high enough temp to have changed colour as they were thought to have carsonegenic properties. Not saying don’t use them just be careful. |

With nogginend having 15 mm at £4.20 a foot why would you bother looking for 1/2 inch?. I use a fair amount of acetal and machine it with pcd tips and the finish is amazing and dead on size, personally I would prefer to start with a larger blank to give a fine turned finish to your major dia. |

i originally made the screw cutting dog clutch from grahams book about five years ago, works faultlessly. with recent lockdown the book came out again and the boring and facing head was made, a beautiful thing. Out of interest grahams drawings are the only ones I have used which so far have had no mistakes this is in itself a pleasure |

If using easy flo fluxes (not tenacity) it is only necessary to put in boiling water after making the joint. |
Thread: Tri-Leva decal artwork? |

I have asked Myford in the past for this label as it is the only one they don’t supply and they said they have no plans to supply it n the future, looks like an opening for some enterprising chap £ £ £ |
Thread: Silver Soldering for the Clockmaker |

Don’t understand you would have to wait 12 hours to silver solder a joint, perhaps you need to talk to Keith Hale (CUP) the man has over 40 years experience in silver soldering. Went to one of his lectures and dispelled lots of old wives recipes for success and since then my silver soldering has got better and better. |

I made the Wilding Turret Clock and made the cutter for the wheels it turned out to be fairly easy, the pinions are lanterns which personally I think look more interesting but good for a turret as there is plenty of room for the dirt to go! I also cast the brass for the wheels which was interesting.will put some pictures in my album. |

You are obviously cutting metric threads if you have the 34 tooth gear fitted so why the 21 tooth. By the way they are not that elusive. |
Thread: How to be accurate! |

I have my compound set to about 5.75degs which gives you a 10 to 1 ratio on long travel to axial so you have predictable tenths. Credit to GHT |
Thread: building the mastiff |
08/11/2020 10:47:08 |
I am looking for a copy of Building the Mastiff by Mr. L.C. Mason. i am particularly interested in the section dealing with cam machining as the westbury method I am using on my Wallaby cam produces beautiful flanks but the rest is very much down to how it looks by eye especially the base circle and nose blending. Help would be very much appreciated. |

Wd40 is not the thing to use for rust protection as it has kerosene in ,far better to use a metal protection fluid from rocol or similar suppliers. Or you could just use hydraulic oil which is impervious to water. My unheated and uninsulated garage has three machines in it which use hydraulic oil as a cutting oil and I never see any rust. I get my hyd. oil from the local tractor dealer after they have done a hyd. oil change.
