Thread: Read your ME/MEW renewal notice VERY carefully
08/12/2011 01:32:34
Recently I received a renewal notice form the office advising me that my MEW subs were due to expire and inviting me to renew.
This I tried to do but hit the problems mentioned in another thread. Am still trying to resolve the issue.
I was sure the notice had stated the subs to the paper copy of MEW were due to expire. But looking at the notice again i noticed a strange "D" at the end of the listing.
Think I now know what the problem is !!
The "person" who designed the form quite obviously has not tried printing out all variations of the form, because the field allowed for the item which is expiring is too short or does not have a "wrap around" facility, so that when the renewal notice is printed the last part of the message is "chopped" off, making it unclear exactly what sort of MEW subs are due.
So I sugest that when/if you do receive a renewal notice, you check it very carefully. perhaps also check if it agrees with your own records.
Hopefully "someone" will fix this problem up.
Thread: Unable to access the "Digital Issues" pages
08/12/2011 01:04:19
Hi, back again.
despite the subs to the pages being up to date, I am suddenly unable to access the digital pages. When I click the "Digial Issues" after signing in I am presented with a page which states that is 'Subscriber Only Content".
I have checked that my subs numbers are still in place and have refreshed the appropriate pages but still can't access the digital pages.
Nothing has changed my end and the rest of the site seems to work for me, could you please fix this problem as I am a regular visitor to the digital issues.

Thread: Walnut shell blasting media
07/10/2011 21:02:21
GTRACK
Hi, crushed walnut shell is used by the shooting fraternity in tumblers to clean up used brass cases of either pistol or rifle rounds prior to re-loading the ammunition. It is usually available in 1Kg bags from your local gun store. have been out of the sport for a few years now so can't remember the cost
The tumblers are very usefull for cleaning all sorts of small metal parts, three or four hours in the tumbler will clean most up very nicely.

Thread: ME issue 4270
19/09/2011 05:46:51

Yes, I get the same request to update the FlashPlayer.
I would suggest that there is something wrong with the ME 4270 issue or it's viewer as both 4269 and 4271 load up and print Ok, 4270 wont even load up.
Thread: ME 4407 - New Viewer
01/07/2011 21:41:46
Thanks to "someone" the viewer is now working fine, only comment I can make re page loading problem is that for some reason the connection was very slow when I had the troubles. Now the speed is as it should be the viewer works like greased lightening.
However do note that the mouse curser dissapears from an expanded page on occassions.

Thanks to David and his crew a great magazine with interesting content

I would like to mention the new viewer for 4407, can't get it to load up a page. Preview of pages works fine but when you "click" on a page the viewer sits there forever trying to load up the page and nothing is being downloaded.
Am using FireFox 5, is that of any significance ??

Thread: MEW 177 digital Issue
15/05/2011 22:37:47
Hi Gents,
MEW 177 appears in the main MEW pages but "someone" has forgotten to enable this edition in the "archive" pages, so if you have a current subscription to the "paper" edition of MEW you are fine, but if to the "archive" edition of MEW then you are not.

Thread: Latest Issue
25/04/2011 22:51:47

Hi All,

The ME issue 4402 has apparently been available on the newsstands (in the UK) since 22nd April. So it should have been available in the Archive some days before that.

As it is now the 26th (well at least it is in OZ) when might we expect it to “appear” in the ME “Archive” on the website.

The whole matter of magazine issues being available on the website seems to be a bit of a “hit and miss” affair. Even MEW 176 is not displayed on the front page YET!! And I got my issue in OZ a week ago.

Thread: Chuck jaws
04/01/2011 20:40:20

Hello Ray,

Just a thought, why “modify” a perfectly good set of jaws on/in your chuck, how about fabricate a set of “shoes” for the jaws out of the soft material, then just super glue them on or maybe use some Selastic to hold them on temporarily. When the job (requiring the soft jaws) is finished, take them off and stash away for next time, leaving your chuck jaws untouched.

Thread: MEW Archive Subscription has dissapeared !
16/12/2010 22:35:09
Hi,
Realise this forum is for technical stuff but your office dont seem to reply to emails. My recently renewed subscription to "MEW Archive" was accessable for a couple of days after I paid the subs but has dissapeared, could you please fix it up. Very annoying when these things seem to have a life of their own.
By the way is there anyway on either ME/MEW site or the HobbyStore site I can check the status of my subscriptions ??

Thread: Which issues of MEW are available in digital archive?
10/12/2010 23:59:07
OOPs !! my fault as looks like my subs to MEW digital archive have lapsed (be nice if "someone" had sent me an email to remind me), so have just renewed and hope all well in a few days.
09/12/2010 02:57:43
Hello gents,
good to see it is not just me with a problem as my access to the MEW archive dissapeared a couple of days ago (the option does not appear when I click on Digital Issues), fairly sure my subs are still current, emailed the office for details but no reply yet.

Thread: Where's the digital edition?
04/09/2010 21:45:01
"So stop complaining, get out to the workshop and make a bit of swarf.
regards
John"

Will do John, but would still like my digital edition BEFORE the paper one gets here.
One can live in hope

Back again, thought by now the digital edition would be available, but NO !!.
Even though the Home page says "Model Engineers' Workshop issue 168, now on sale" and has done for a few days, it is still not in either digital location !!

NB....or is there something wrong in the system with my subscription.

OH!! yes, while in grumpy mode, when "looking" at an issue online especially just after printing a page, why does a little box keep jumping up telling me that something is wrong with the online viewer and do I want to shut down the viewer, NO I dont want to !!, I just would like to view the edition in peace. Have actually tried shutting down the viewer and reloading the edition but makes no difference.

That's all I can think of right now.
You all have a good day !!
04/09/2010 00:25:50
Have to agree with you guys, am getting a bit annoyed with paying a subscription for BOTH the MEW areas and to have the digital edition appear AFTER I have received the paper one in Australia, not quite the idea behind the purpose of a digital subscription.
