I would think that is the idea Derek, otherwise why would Neil need a 300-400 word description !!!

Personally i am past caring about how much info about me gets into the public domain. I already have a whole chapter about me in a book about early rock 'n' roll groups, and more to come on that subject.

I also had an article published in the British Horological Journal some while ago, so it is a bit late for me to go all shy.

Just bumping this back up in the hope of getting a reply.

Is there a closing date for entries Neil ???

I will be 82 in September and due to renew mine for the 5th time, however i won't bother as i would not feel safe driving these days.

I know the feeling, i have lost 3 inches due to 4 collapsed vertebrae and osteoperosis.

Starting to look a bit like Quasimodo with my bent spine.

I had to renew by post at age 70, but since then i have done it on line with no problems.

I am due to renew again at age 82 next year, (if i last that long ,) but i will hand in my licence then as i feel that i would be a danger to myself and others.

A 10pm trip to hospital where they kept me there for 48 hours with no sleep.

No problems in the Crewe Cheshire area. I believe that they have just had a massive new sorting warehouse built near Northampton and are doing a lot of re-organisation.

Put them all together and you have a lamp that can have either white discs or colour changing discs. The base and top are white at all times, only the discs change colour. I would post a Video of the finished item but don't know how.

With the base ready it's time to make some bits for the top. 3/4" 'Perspex' and some discs from hard drives.

Time to cut the base from 3/4" 'Perspex' and cut the holes for LED driver, switches Etc.

Then fit the LEDs into the discs.

Drill the discs for the LEDs and tap out a hole for a fixing screw.

Next, do a bit of pressure turning. I held the discs together with double sided tape and wedged them in the lathe using a rotating chuck in the tailstock.
