Thread: Another band saw blade snapped – Have I got the tension wrong.
02/11/2015 21:40:10

hi all i had the same problem i found that cutting big lumps of steel the blade got very hot as have the same problem i had the guards off when switched off i put my hand on the drive wheels as you do and they was very hot so i can only assume they expand in diameter putting extra tension on the blade??.

I also found a build up of scum on the drive wheel as well. my plan of action was to fit a brush to keep the wheel and blade clean i also fitted a coolant system that keeps the wheel and the blade clean.

also I take the tension off when not in use and i no longer have a problem.

hope this also helps

Thread: What did you do today (2015)
02/01/2015 19:40:22

The first day in the workshop for 10 days did some cleaning up and put things away then I found the 2 BRASS flip top oil cups that I got at the show.

I had to modify the thread and to my surprise when I started turning them they was aluminium plated with brass they looked like brass and sold as brass.

They was marked up as brass and cost more than the mild steel ones so you just cannot trust anyone so check what you buy

Hi guys has any one got a set of drawing for a small Cracker steam engine that are better than the one’s on the John Tom site as i an struggling with the gears i need to make for the drive.

The 6 drawing are a bit woolly overall, so if anyone has better set i would be grateful.

Thanks Kevin

26/10/2014 18:30:02

thanks for the info I have been looking at this drawing all afternoon and missed the copper bit at the top it must be the clocks going back or a blond moment

hi Guys i wanted a new one for my mill and they are dead in the water this is the reply i got in 2009

Hello

I can no longer supply any of the digital readouts.I have been put out of business by the increasing costs of complying with all the EU directives, the final straw was the WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) directive. Sorry about that, I can repair the readouts, but not manufacture them.

i was also disappointed that I cannot access the digital element on this site I renewed my subscription as I did for many years but I can only afford the print subscription and I did get the benefits but now it has all gone.

I wonder what MEW & ME are going to do for its readers with the extra revenue they are getting or is it just a profit thing to increase the top line sale's

I am having a rant gerrrrrrrrrrrrrr..

so it is not just me then

02/03/2014 18:01:16

hi all I know the will be a stupid question it is about subscriptions and email notifications.

For a long time I have always got an email to say Preview your Model Engineer workshop and has been very useful when I have been on holiday as a preview to what is coming up.

For a while now I have been getting an email saying Preview your Model Engineer as I do not subscribe to this I am surprised as I only subscribe to Model Engineer workshop is this a glitch in the system or advertising to get me to subscribe to ME

anyone else get this problem
