With most of the single phase AC motors one has to change the polarity on any one of either the running winding or the starting winding. This is done by means of either a reversing switch or 2 contactors with an interlock. Make sure the centrifugal operated starting switch is operating correctly.

I moved house and workshop and lost the drawing for the 40:1 worm that is used on my Jacobs type gear hobber. Can anybody help with dimensions or a drawing for one similar to the one used by the CES kit for use with a 40 teeth Myford gear.

We seem to have the same "shortages" of bugs and birds in South Africa. I am wondering how much is contributed by genetically modified plants.

I suspect the numbers represent another factory engineering drawing or heat treating process.

I obtained a Velleman Vertex and i have excellent results from the start.

Thanks for the information. i went the same way, but bought a motor specially designed for vfd use. I have turned up the 1470 rpm 4 pole motor to 100 hertz and it runs quite happy at that setting.(2900rpm)

Can anybody help with dimensions to make collets for a Proxxen FF500 mill?

They are similar to the ER type of collets but are bigger than ER16, but smaller than ER 20.

The Russians still use 55 degrees on their machine tools. Other than that basically all small machine tools use 60 degree dove tails and the larger machines use various other systems, from square slides to in house bearing designs. Round bars used be used on older type small machine tools like the older version of the Emco unimat.

Peter,I had success with exactly the same repair. I used lard (pig's fat) as a lubricant and fed all three the taps from a set of hand taps through from the bottom (back side) of the work piece . It worked like a charm.

I have already built 2 of the clutches, one for me and one for my son. They both work perfectly. I had to change the spring, used one a bit harder.
