Thread: Simplex Axle springs |
10/06/2023 11:18:37 |
Hi, Thanks guys for reminding me of Reeves. I still do not know the size needed. 1 1/4" seems too long -I have been quoted 13/16" free length and 20swg. Has anyone got a copy of the martin Evans book on Simplex to see what he recommends. Dave |

Any one know what springs are needed for the original Simplex. And where to purchase them. GLR13 which used to be quoted does not seem to be available. |
Thread: Balance Weights King Loco |

Thanks to all who replied. Looks like the weight is definitely flat. The plans show a tapering of the edge of the weight. I wish I could go and see a full size King and examine it in detail. What I really need is a cross -section diagram! Regards David |

I am baffled by how to fit the balance weights on the wheels of my King 5"g loco. The weight is flat but the spokes need a bent material. Do I bend it or mill out the spokes? Looking at photos it appears the weights are flat. On the Perrier King design, the driving wheel balance is off set, ie not exactly opposite the crank pin. I assume the wheels on both sides are identical. |

Does anyone know the location of an article about making a sub Table for the milling machine. I have searched my magazine collection without success. It was about 9" x 4" with many tapped holes. |

Thread: Bentley BR2 construction |
13/10/2015 09:53:22 |
Since posting I read the Air Publication 359 at the back of the Blackmore book. It indicates a loose fit of cylinder into crankcase and no mention of sealing. I think I will allow 2 thou off the diameter. Thanks JasonB for directing me to the IC Engine web and to mick for agreeing with the 2 thou.

Can any builder of the BR2 comment on the fit of the cylinders into the crankcase of the BR2? As the crankcase is steel and the cylinders are aluminium do I need to allow for this? If so how much. What sort of fit is required for the cylinder to the crankcase, Also is any sealant used in assembly? Any help would be appreciated. |
Thread: Linisher Belts |

Many thanks to those who responded. I had thought about splitting a wider belt but assumed it would be too tough. Thanks for confirmation that is feasible - Glad to see that I am not alone in having an MES Linisher - looks like my answer is bndabrasives (thanks Brian).

Does anyone know where I can obtain new belts (metal cutting) for my linisher which I built many years ago from castings. It was supplied by Model Engineering Services who used to supply the Quorn etc.. The belts are 50 x 915 which seems a non standard size. My worn out belts say Siamet 50x915-9346 Thanks David |
Thread: Warco WM18 miller problem |
24/01/2013 17:37:04 |
Having read the article by Dave Fenner (Aug 2009) regarding the WM18 and looked at a number of other machines I have recently purchased one from Warco. It does everything desired but as soon as I started placing items on the table eg milling vice or clock gauge I found that scratches appeared very easily. I have not had a problem with my old RF25 miller. I am reluctant to continue using it . Can anyone explain what I do to avoid ruining the table surface. I am also surprised at the amount of piting of the surface as though its been surface ground but not to a very great depth. |
