49 forum posts 4 photos | Hi, I've recently bought a part built Winsons/Modelworks 2" Scale Pride of Penrhyn Steam Wagon. I don't suppose any knows where I might source the drawings and construction notes? I've tried Engineers Emporium and Steam Traction World but they are unable to throw any light on a source. I'm sure there must be someone out there who has or knows of someone who might be kind enough to photocopy. I will obviously reimburse for any costs. Do they steam well when complete? Many thanks, Mark |

125 forum posts 21 photos | Hi Neil, Julia Old did a extensive build of one of these engines, doing necessary mods to make the engine work. She is on traction talk forum. The series was published on her web site years ago, not sure if I still have it but I will look. She has gradually moved up in scale to little Samson 6 inch scale engine. So is well qualified. I think this engine is based on the Robey steam wagon. The boilers were good, commercially made, but some of the engineering needs work. This wagon was better than some of the locos, I have the tiger tank.! Made by them which is basic compared to armourtek now. I think she stiffened the road springs as we lack of ground clearance with driver on it. Regards Vic

5 forum posts | David Wager - Hello Steve l have not had any luck so far in my search for instructions or drawings but l believe there is a published book out there written by an engineer who stripped down and successfully rebuilt one of the Pryde of Penryn models. If anyone knows of this publication or has one l would be very pleased to hear from them through the forum. Cheers and heres hoping. David.

5 forum posts | Good morning Steve - sounds as though you and l am in a similar situation. Perhaps we can use this connection to keep in touch, as l said in my first post, buying the PoP is a big step up from the many Mamod and Wilescos that l have been collecting for my grandson Toby. We are very keen to get things moving and hopefully attend some local shows next summer. Cheers David. |
