I asked the same question some years ago. Here is the link to that thread:-**LINK** Ian |

Yes. I bought ten CCMW 2-1.5-.5 T15 HSS direct from Warner's some years ago & find them very good as Bill above says. The only down side is paying the import tax & Royal Mail a fee ( £8 I think) to process the tax. Ideally it would better to buy from the UK or get a friend in the US to send them as a gift. I would be interested to hear if you find somewhere out of the US to purchase them from. Regards Ian Edited By ian j on 08/02/2015 09:03:40 |
Thread: Another motor reversing cry for help |
03/02/2015 19:53:00 |
John. I spent a lot of time looking for suitable bellows with out much success, I did get one quote of over £80 for two bespoke 6" extended length latex rubber ones. But !! So for the time been I'm using the hose off a Dyson vac. It's 1.75 " o/s diameter, 12" extended compresses down to 2.75". I got mine free from a local vac. repair shop or you see loads down the council recycling centres. |

Just thought I would update you. The switches arrived this lunch time. I wired one up as to Les's diagram & it works just fine. Thanks Les very much for your help & others for their suggestions.
PS Looking at the photo I need to level the ON OFF ON plate!! Edited By ian j on 03/02/2015 17:22:04 |

Thanks for that Les. I've ordered two switches from Proto-pic for less than £7 inclusive of postage. Ian |

Les. Just been and checked. My original diagram is incorrect. The mains IN for the CCW direction is across U1 & U2. You are right in that the cap. is disconnected from U2 & is switched to U2 (CW) or U1(CCW) U1-U2 20 ohms Z1-Z2 55 ohms Ian |

Thanks all for your replies. I've managed to find a source of 3PDT toggle switches:- based in Scotland ( you can get 5 of the same off eBay for £10 free postage. but I don't need 5 !!) :- **LINK** This seems to me to be the uncomplicated and cheapest way to go. Having said that. Les how would I connect the switch to the motor? Any way it's passed a cold Sunday afternoon. is it an age thing that I use to be in the workshop on colder days than today?

Les. Your dead right the ON/OFF switch is DPST and the CW/CCW is DPDT ( not centre off). Sorry for the confusion. Ian |

Hi. Sorry about the missing picture. Here it is ? Les. Yes both switches are DPST . I can't remember how I did !! I will go & have a look now.

Hi. I have a small (1/8HP) capacitor start capacitor run motor which I have fitted to my (nearly) completed Bonelle T & C grinder. At the moment I have it wired through two DPST switches, one for CW/CCW and the other for ON/OFF. What I really want to do is to have just one DPDT ( centre off ) switch wired to the motor. Below is the connections shown on the terminal lid Thank you Ian

Thread: Myford Ml7RB top slide rotation range improvement |
26/01/2015 22:00:10 |
Hi. The range of rotation on a Myford Ml7RB top slide is restricted by the design. I've struggled with this weakness for some time and now hope to over come it. I'm sure I've read some where that there was an article in ME (may be by G.H. Thomas) of a mod. to give a full 360 degree rotation as on the super 7. Has any one any details of this. Thank you.

Thread: ER25 collets to hold square material |
24/01/2015 13:27:53 |
Thanks to all for your replies. I spotted the tapping collets some where else & very nearly brought one. but now I've seen the drawing of the ones you found Michael I can now see it would not be suitable. I will go down the Howard Hall method ( Thanks Alan) nice little project for a Winters afternoon ! Just to explain what I need them for. I have just finished (nearly) building a Bonelle T & C grinder I Have used an ER25 collet chuck with a straight shank in the work head & needed a method to hold square HHS to grind as lathe tools. Thanks again

Are ER25 collets to hold square material (say 1/4" or 3/8" Thank you. Ian |
Thread: What did you do today (2015) |

Hi John. I have an Altivar 28 fitted to my milling machine. It's a bit of a pain understanding the manual . The fact you only set it up the once doesn't help. But from what I can remember I set parameter tFr ( DrC- menue page 63) to the max output frequency I wanted And parameter -HSP (SEt- menue page 59) to the same value. Regards Ian |

Hi. Can any one advise me on what type & supplier of an engraving cutter to use in my Emco mill ( max speed 2500 rpm) to engrave the graduations on the rotating work table on the Bonelle T& C grinder I'm building. The table is 3" in diameter leaded MS. what Included angle of cutter? width & depth of graduations ? Thank you. Ian Edited By ian j on 02/07/2014 08:22:04 |

Looks good Graham. I stocked up on 10" hacksaw blades last week at the Harrogate show, one of the traders selling eclipse 18 tpt all hard blades for £5 for 10.I've done a bit on mine this week, new bronze bearings and a spray job. photo shows how the blade is secured and tensioned on mine ( you said you were not happy with the arrangement on yours) |
