Having recently installed Fire Fox ver.43.0.4 on my Win 7 laptop I now find on ebay if I look at an item & click on other items nothing happens. if I clear cookies & cache in FF history it's ok once but if I try again to look at other items nothing happens until I clear cookies & cache again. It works ok on my Win XP PC's

Any suggestions ?

Thank You

Thread: The Workshop Progress Thread (2016)

Jason B

It's runs on Colemans fuel using the J. Ridders petrol vapour carb. The first few times I had it running I used a 30/70% mixture of methanol/colemans but for some reason it will not run on that now !

There's still a tight spot between the two gears but after approx. 8 hours running it's getting better.

I considered your suggestion of grinding paste but thought it may be a bit too aggressive.

Any suggestions on another hit & miss engine to build from bar stock ( I have no welding facilities )

p1201449.jpgThought I would post a couple of photo's showing the lever feed tailstock attachement now fitted to my ML7R.

Thanks to Nick for selling it, John for providing the missing parts ( I had to mill the key way approx. 1" longer to get the full travel) & ega for the photo's and the offer of assistance.( I wil make a draw bar as you have)

ega.

If you could go to the trouble of making a simple sketch with some dimensions on, this would be greatly appreciated.

Another question, In the photo I posted what purpose do the cap head screws on the RHS of the casting serve.

John.

That would be great if you have.

img50.jpgHi.

I've just bought a tailstock lever feed attachement for my ML7R from the ads here, ( thanks Nick)

It did not include the barrel or the threaded cap which screws into the right hand side of the tailstock. I plan to make these parts (after all I have a lathesmiley )

Question is:-

(1) does any one know what the internal thread in the right hand side of the tailstock is?

(2) Can any one with this attachement measure these two parts?

I've incuded a photo (taken from lathes.co.uk) which clearly shows the two parts I hope to make.

ie. the barrel and threaded cap.

Thanks in advance.

After reading this thread I have just installed Firefox on two windows XP PC'c & my Windows 7 laptop. Is it my imagination that apart from browsing been alot faster the whole PC/Laptop apears to run faster? ie no more internet explorer not responding/long running scripts.

I like the facility where you can sync bookmarks and passwords across all devices.

Is there a setting where the viewing size is the same for each TAB?

Jason,

Yes I intend to paint it .I'm thinking sateen finish dark green.

There's a reason for no sound. At the moment there is a tight spot between the two gears and it makes an annoying squeaking sound, I'm hopping this will disappear after a bit of running in?

Thought I would share with you a short video of my Hit & Miss engine running.

It's The Farm Boy built from Jerry E Howell (USA) plans using bar stock ( Aluminium from local Non Ferrous scrap yard) most of the other material I already had. The only castings are the fly wheels which I had cast locally using a partly machined one I purchased from the Home workshop ads as a pattern, It involved cutting two gears which was a first for me

It's running using a minimag Co. coil & miniature ignition module, a 70%/30% mixture of colemans fuel/methanol.

I think I'm hooked on hit & miss engine now !!

Any way pleased you are up & running.

Gordon.

Just by coincidence I received one of these this morning from Hong Kong. Spent some time trying to work out the wiring , with no luck. When I came in for lunch I saw John's reply. When I wired mine up as John's ( Apart from I think he meant BLUE OF THE SENSOR TO TERMINAL 2 Ve Gnd ) info. it worked o/k.

Terminal 1 +ve to display and sensor (brown)

Terminal 2 -ve to display and sensor (blue)

Terminal 5 input from sensor (black)

Terminal 3 & 4 not used

That's how it is on mine.

PS just checked Terminal 2 & 3 on mine are communed together so are both -Ve in. So John's info is correct.

Adrian.

I've just had the same quest for gear cutters no.2 & 3 14 1/2 degree 48DP .. I tried Tracy tools with no luck but they suggested "Home and Workshop Machinery" of Sidcup who had them pre used at £15 each + VAT & postage..
