Without going and looking at it, but quickly, On the hub with the 3 handles for the course downfine is a screw lock which moves from fine to course feed. I do not have the power down feed so may be different to yours.

Are you talking about the course or fine downfeed. I have a Chester Lux mill, which I belive is the same as a Warco GH mill but have never had a issue with the downfeed levers.

Thanks for the replys. As I said I am looking only for safety glasses. I already have and wear googles and a full face when required. My company uses S***savers for our VDU eyesight test, But I shall now go and have a look at Boots and online

Does anyone here use prescription safety glasses? I am now getting slightly longsighted ( need glasses for close up work) and I am considering buying a pair. What would be a typical (cheap) price and what should I be asking for? These are intended for wear at the lathe with a good clear chuck guard. For grinding work I intend to still wear my normall safety glasses.

The only two items i had to return were, first a child car booster seat, very poor ,it broke as I took it out of the packing, and a air powered shears which collasped the bearing after 10 seconds of use. Otherwise for the price I find quality is fine for home use.

Handtools and workwear this Thursday.

I would much like such a article. Mostly I would like second Andrew comment as above.

It is one thing to read up on lathe work and then have a go yourself, This is I think most of us start out, but I would not think of doing this with a grinder unless I had some very detailed instrections first.

I am waiting for ER40 version.

My second lathe was the Chester version of the C6 about 10 years ago. A good strong lathe but crude around the edges. Bits i didn't like was the cross slide( too much play on the nut) and the chuck mounting which was a bolt on affay. I would not have one again, there are much better lathes out there.

I will not be renewing my subs, when it runs out,mostly due to the CNC and electirial stuff. I will just buy second hand copies.

I have had Myfords, a AUD Mk111 and currently a Boxford STS 10-20. The gearhead is nice and quiet.

Hi Joe

I would forget even the underdrive Boxfords and go for one of the more modern Gearhead Boxfords. These can be had at prices lower than the AUD/BUD. Not that they is anything wrong with the underdrive units but they are getting old now.
