Thread: lathe tool cutting oils |
19/05/2009 14:39:10 |
Hi There
I use cutting oil.
Arc Euro Tade sell MWC I think which is Metalworkers cutting oil.
Soluble is not ideal especially if you have a digital readout.
The modern synthetic soluble oils can sting if you have a cut as well.

Hi There
Stuart castings are excellent.
I doubt you need to worry about the tool going blunt.
When that book was written I suspect they were still using carbon steel tools.
Modern high speed tools should be fine.

Thread: Titanium |
18/05/2009 18:20:55 |
Hi There
You could try posting a classified wanted advert.
Titanium is not that bad to machine. It is soft but abrasive. it dents easily if you hit it with a hammer. Use about half the speed you use for steel and you should be ok. Don't try to drill it unless it is clamped downor in a vice.

Thread: brazing/siversoldering |

Hi There
Depends on the size of the job.
For very small jobs, you can buy a torch from B&Q that runs on propane but with something added to make it burn hotter. I think the fuel is in a yellow can, could be called knap gas or similar I think. The can has a threaded end to take the torch. Basically it is a blowlamp.
I think that would comfortably handle up to a gauge one boiler.

Hi There We can put PDF's up.
|
17/05/2009 17:13:16 |
Hi There
I did say PDF's would be on the web site.
Should be easy to host but there are no facilities on this web site to do that.
It is a custom built site and PDF's were not considered.
We are looking into it and hope to put PDF's on soon.

Hi There
I have all the magazines but it will take a while to turn them into articles.
I don't think there are facilities to host PDF's on this site.

Thread: Congratulations |

Lots of articles that have been printed in past issues of the magazine will be scanned and OCR'd into articles on this web site. The site does not offer the easy option of putting up loads of PDF's. Only articles that we own copyright to can be put on the web but I do have lots of letters from readers that allow me to put their articles onto the web.

Thread: Writing Articles For Model Engineer |
15/05/2009 17:55:38 |
Model Engineer is looking for people to write articles for Model Engineer and Model Engineers' Workshop. We do pay for articles used. Almost any model engineering or tooling subject is welcome but feel free to ask before spending many hours on writing up your latest project.
A set of guidelines for prospective authors is available from Request contributor's guidelines.
The guidelines are not written in stone, rather they just offer a bit of help to first time authors. Edited By David Clark 1 on 15/05/2009 17:56:24 |
