Thread: Probem with soft limits mach3 turn |

My guess is that your posistin is outside the limit. I also think soft limits are im machine coordinates. Try to show the machine coordinate at your posision (machine cordinates are always in radius). Best regards Anders B
PS Oh yes, machine coordinates are unaffected by work offset. DS Edited By Anders Be on 01/04/2021 20:23:25 |

I have bought material from IBL Metallhandel & Sägeservice GmbH. https://shop.ibl-raimund.de/ Finde most of my shops/"suppliers" through amazon.de, for instance: https://www.paulimot.de/ https://www.wabeco-remscheid.de/ Best regards Anders B

Thread: Chuck backplate error |
12/01/2021 19:55:47 |
I push this subject with a similar question: I will (or rather dreams of) make a new backplate for my lathe. The diameter of the spindle nose at the register is 37,97 mm with a tolerance of +0 and -0,005 mm (a schaublin 102 spindle nose for w20 collets). What diameter should I aim at accordingvto you? |

I like to add a smal aditional question I'm thinking about: How does the clearance affect the bending stiffnes of the chuck (i.e stiness from the moment arised on the chuck from the cuting force). Best regards Anders B |

Many thank! Ady1. Have only briefly glanced through the first thread, the measured gap is much smaller, say 0,004 mm rather than 0,04 that I have. Have to read them carefully ... Edited By Anders Be on 20/11/2020 22:34:52 |

Many thanks for your answer. What would be the ideal diameter of the register in relation to spindle diameter? Best regards Anders B |

Dear all! Working with a lathe, cortini H105 (swing 105 mm). The chuck is mounted with a 1-1/2"-8 tpi thread. The chuck is 125 mm in diameter and say 80 mm long including back plate. If I push the chuck (or a bar mounted in the chuck) forth and back introducing a rather low bending moment on the chuck, the radial movment at the outer end of the chuck is say 0.02 to 0.03 mm. However as close as possible to the bearings I don't see any movment. I suspect this depends on movmens in the thread fixing the backplate to the spindle. Could I be right? If not, what can the problem be? Bad axial fiting? Could be, but I have verify it with mark color. Fiting of the register? Spindle is 37.97 and backplate 38.00 mm in diameter giving a gap of 0.03 mm. Bad fitting in the thread? The fitting is not tight so to say. I combination of all? Thank you for your reading. |

Hi DaveD Thanks for the link. Anders |

Many thanks for the warm welcome. @David and Brian H: I can't find anything about Cortini on this site, but there is some information on the internet. On the other hand, details in the design are often similar. Thanks for the link Brian. @JanB: I'm from Uppsala. You? I think it will take many years before I can call me a model engineer, but I'm not in a hurry. At the moment, metanol engine is my main intrest, but we will see. First I need to have precision in my tools and learn how to use them .... Anders
