Hello, I ordered a couple of replacement components for my EMCO lathe on the 10/01/2022 from Pro Machine Tools Ltd. Apart from the initial confirmation email I’ve had no further contact from them. I tried phoning but all I get is an answer phone message saying that I can’t leave a message. I’ve also emailed via their website but I’m still waiting to hear Has anyone else had any dealings or issues with Pro Machine Tools Ltd? |

Hi, I’m struggling to find a supplier in the UK who sells small amounts of Castrol Hyspin AWS 46 (EMCO recommended oil), I only need 1litre but most sellers only offer 20 litres or more. I tried finding an equivalent, Mobil DTE 25 ultra which is a hydraulic oil and quite thin, my fear is it won’t protect the gears. Any advice would be most welcome, Thanks |

You could try clamping the exposed key in a vice and tap shaft upwards with a copper mallet. As already suggested, drill and tap one end of the key and jack out of key way. Good luck. |

Thread: Gasket material for motor terminal box |
24/12/2021 11:16:52 |
Hello, I’m currently refurbishing a EMCO Maximat Super 11 lathe and one of the many issues I’ve come across so far is the gasket that seals the motor terminal box cover is missing. Because of where the motor is situated it could be exposed to coolant etc, could anyone recommend a suitable gasket material? Many thanks, Paul

Thanks Jason, I've been a member of the group for a while now, unfortunately I can't find an operating manual for a EMCO Maximat Super 11, they've got the 13. Maybe it's there but I haven't spotted it! I must say I did enjoy reading your article about your workshop. Hopefully once I've got the EMCO installed I can start to layout my garage/workshop in a similar way to yours. Thanks, Paul |

Hello, I'm about to take delivery of an EMCO Maximat Super 11 lathe (a green one) and I'm going to need an operating manual as I don't have a lot of experience. Does anyone know where I could get one, even a copy would be great? Thanks |

Hello, I've managed to identify the gland thread size on my Kennedy Hexacut, Hoover motor, it's 3/4" conduit. I believe this thread is unique to the electrical trade and not a BSP or NPT thread. I obtained a 3/4" male to 20mm female adaptor and used a 20mm gland I had in stock to get the saw running. I would in the future like to make a gland to fit 3/4" conduit thread but until then this setup will suffice. |

Thanks for the replies and links to other posts. I thought they maybe obsolete but I like the idea of the shoe eyelets, I think I'll look into this. Cheers

Hello, I'm currently rewiring a Kennedy Hexacut saw and I need some help identifying and sourcing the brass eyelet/crimps used to terminate the motor winding to the on/off switch. Please see attached photos, hopefully! I searched the internet but can't find any info on these crimps, they must be obsolete. I have tried to use normal crimps but the switch cover won't fit on to the motor casing due to the size of the crimps and I'd also like to keep it original if possible. Any info would be helpful Thanks in advance

Hello Dave Springate, I’ve read your posting with interest as I believe I have the same issue as you in trying to identify an old gland thread size/type on a vintage electric motor. Did you manage to identify the thread type? Hope you read this, Paul |
