Does the dial indicator return to zero if you release it from a short distance? faulty one often return from a full press but fail from a 1/4 press etc.

It's likely they are using an iphone which doesn't show all the page so they don't spot the flashing inbox which is in full view at all times on desktop PC unless scrolling down a page

Strange item, the two pronged thing looks very like I have on the rear end of a ramrod on one of my old guns, it's used to pull out a lead ball or wadding from a gun barrel in the event of a failure to fire, it's far too short though and looks too crude for small pocket pistols

Again, the spike looks like a tool to clear the touch hole on a muzzle loader but maybe it's nothing to do with guns. If you get no identification I can put it on another group who will identify it for sure

My PC is 5+ years old and a high spec gaming machine. It fails the Win 11 test but am I bothered? heck no.

I see that Microsoft and their close association with Intel are possibly breaking up as Microsoft are reportedly developing their own chips for servers and the home PC market. This will probably lead to further development and end up with a complete Microsoft laptop etc. Then they are in a similar position as now, to try and force you to upgrade to a new PC

I bought one of those new in 1963, I used it a lot back then and the only problem I had was with the motor. The two black plastic caps that hold the bushes in place both crumbled away after a couple of years and I ended up jamming in a piece of wood to keep the spring tension whilst I tried to find something to do it properly

Then I bought a large lathe and the Unimat was little used. It still sits on a shelf in my workshop, still with bits of dowel stuck in

I find LED tubes to be excellent, instant light and very bright. so bright that we had to fit the old diffuser back on the 6ft light in our kitchen.

I can't tell from your photo, but it looks like you have diffusers fitted over the tubes? if you tried just one LED in each light and left the diffuser off it would work very well, more so if you paint the ceiling as suggested

before Covid customers were allowed to walk around the unit selecting small offcuts which are all sorted out on racks or floor and stored in various areas. There is no minimal charge or anything so you can just take your bits and pieces to the counter to be weighed. They have a cutting service as well

They are not returning us to the imperial system though, it just means you will be free to use it if you are a trader. Just remember that market traders were being taken to court and fined for selling fruit by the pound and then forced to buy metric scales in order to obey Brussels.

I have experimented with both oil and springs, it's getting the balance just right.

Another method I tried is to tap a thread in some of the plunger holes and block one or two of them with a grub screw, that works really well in slowing down the pull particularly if you have oil that's too thin. The downside is it lifts more of the oil up into the gaiter when you lift the arm but if it's well fitted with a jubilee clip it's fine.

Boxford school lathes have T for training such as TUD, the U is for under drive. They don't have screwcutting capabilities so the lathe in question is not a school one

There are amateur videos using telephoto lens & probably drones etc showing the engine on the special track at the quarry, it can be seen steaming up and moving,

the engine was also visible being transported to the site on a low loader, it's a real engine without doubt and transported to the quarry site.

There are videos showing amateur filming of the engine and carriages in a heavily wooded area, the engine seems to be powering the train but the one that crashes may indeed be a mock up

More photo's here, Preparations for train stunt another link mentions that the train will fall into a water pit. I can imagine many steam enthusiasts being angry if the engine is destroyed

There are dozens of sellers for watch glass on Ebay, I'm sure they would give you the details you require along with the option to buy one cheaply

I'm rather deaf so I hope the poster enabled subtitles if they are talking, the option to add subtitles is just a click of a button and nothing has to be added by the poster.

It works the same way as live TV and converts sounds to words as it goes along. Sometimes there are comical errors as it doesn't always catch what the person is saying

Only Youtube viewers who enable the option will see them.

Are you sure you need an 8ft drop? you don't leave an 8 day clock for 8 days before you wind it, the weight would reach the bottom and stop the clock on the 8th day so you wind it every 7 days.
