+1 on what Andrew said.

Thread: I found this old car but what is it?

Those pipes around the radiator appear to be plastic, and is that a plastic drain-cock on the rad or just corroded brass or ali? Probably something early modified into a 'special' later on, I would guess. Some blue plastic-covered cable there too.

David - our Peugeot 504 also had a torque tube yes

Hi Nigel

As I mentioned back in September, you have to download the example files and extract them to a convenient place where you know where they are. Assuming you are looking for Sketch_A, you'll find it here.

Thread: Clickspring makes a Watchmaker's Faceplate
29/12/2022 11:45:55

I watched this yesterday - very therapeutic! Although, to be a bit (very!) nit-picking, the chamfers on the three big holes were ever so slightly different distances from the screw heads.

Nails? I'd have a word (or three) with whoever installed it!

Derek - I can heartily recommend the EPDM (rubber) roofing membrane, I've done a few flat roofs with it now, and it's far better than felt in my opinion. More expensive, though, but re-roofing isn't something you want to redo very often.

" The smaller diameter the worse taper becomes " - sounds more like workpiece deflection to me?

.....I am somewhat surprised that a board of this vintage still works as electrolytic capacitors tend to fail

Still have an Apricot Qi that works!

+1 on what Bill says - if you can get other sounds, it's unlikely to be anything major like a hardware issue, or software controlling system sounds. But the other question to be asked is - has it ever worked on that PC before?

Thread: SpamScam Phone Calls
22/12/2022 21:56:02

Had a few over the past week, supposedly from numbers with a local area code. The recorded message states that my Amazon Prime subscription has expired and that I have been charged £95 for renewal. Options of pressing 1 or 2 for further information (which of course I didn't).

Something I noted today, as the rear hatch of my car closed onto my head, is that they ain't as powerful in very cold weather.

Thread: Adverts
11/12/2022 15:13:37

I've found that, if ou click on the 'More "For Sale" Ads...' or 'More "Wanted" Ads...' links at the bottom of each section, you get to see the up-to-date lists.

Not ideal, but a workaround.

It would seem that the "Workshop" materials advert which appears at the top of the side panel adverts and has been awaiting moderation for weeks may be blocking something?

Gosh, I had (still have, somewhere) one of those RS cordless irons. Burned a hole through a jacket, carrying it in the pocket blush

+1 on what Baz and others have said - I've seen rust starting within minutes on freshly blasted parts.

Thread: Stopping everything from rusting.

I know this isn't going to help much, but I had one of those garages at a previous house and it was the worst thing I've come across for stuff rusting.

Possibly making an insulated ceiling and insulating the walls may help a bit, in effect creating an insulated inner box that you can heat / de-humidify more easily.
