Or I wont! This forum doesn't allow it apparently. |

Another good one. I'll amend the first post. |

Still very useful all the same, many thanks. |

Still probably worth having a word with your inspector as he will have the final say. Brian An excellent point, I shall ask his advice at our next meet. Thank you. |

I shall take this as a good sign! |

It's been around a long while, and I've heard of some issue with the LBSC design, but not much mention of drawing errors. Problems I'm aware of:
Is anyone aware of any issues within the drawings themselves that should be noted? I did have a google and couldn't find any mention of any, but didn't know if thats because they have been corrected over the years. The drawings came from GLR Kennions. Many thanks, Jon. |
Thread: Mac Computers |

I've been on Mac a while and I agree they are expensive, but for me a computer is like a Washing Machine; I just want it to do whats asked. Windows I found tempermental, Linux too difficult to understand. Mac just works, and for a long time. I'm writing this on a ten year old Macbook that hasn't slowed down since I've bought it, with next to no maintenance. In my previous job I had four work laptops in the space of five years, bloated and stodgy after not very much use at all. I'll keep using this macbook for as long as I can. Another happy customer.

Sounds like a great little project Jan; just the sort of thing I was thinking of. I imagine with the right gearing there would be plenty of torque and pace. I've used Araldite to bond rubber to aluminium before but I have no idea if it would cope with the flex you will be experiencing. |

A guy I work with spent ages waiting for his wife to pick him up from work. He didn't have a mobile back then so he took the bus home, smashed open the front door and gave his missus a mouthful of foul mouthed abuse for not coming to get him as usual. "But you drove this morning?" I bet none of you lot have misplaced a car... |

Posted by Jon on 18/06/2018 16:54:55:. ... Used to like making HF beams. Having a gigantic birdcage on your roof should be a status symbol. Ideally it should glow in the dark. My neighbours are so unimaginative. They even think owning a lathe is eccentric. Ho hum.
If your lathe is eccentric may I suggest balancing the chunk or wedging the baseplate? |

The best book I ever read about Vietnam and helicopters is Chickenhawk by Robert Mason
Fantastic book. So disarmingly honest; utterly engaging. |

Interesting project, I like it! A bit off topic but I spent a bit of time trying to detect numbers stations; I never did find any. I imagine it would be quite eerie hearing the lincolnshire poacher for yourself... |

Penrite do a genuine steering box grease for 6 quid, lithium based and EP rated. Is it worth risking hit and miss results making your own when the real deal is only the price of a couple of beers? Actually, beers beer... |

A group of soldiers once told me they did not like the Chinook, why I asked, because, they replied, its an aircraft that can have an accident with itself, Sir. John
I imagine the hundreds/thousands who have had their lives saved by the Chinook over the years would have a markedly different opinion. Army gallows humour, hope it doesn't offend. No worries, as always the sort of thing that is said face to face in the pub is a lot easier to judge than things said on a forum with the sterility of an online message! You miss all the nuances of expression and intent. No offence taken, just a knee jerk reply from me. Jon. |

Chinooks...... 1 rotor eh, prob glide like a brick.........mmmmmmm depending which 1 (front or back) make the difference between a left or a right crash......... how many have we got stored with the wrong electronics.........
You are a bit behind the times on that one. All of those were released into mainstream service a while back. |

Lovely chap, very humble despite his astonishing provenance. As previously said, could tell anecdotes all day and not repeat himself! Sadly missed. |
