Thread: Cheap software

Libre Office and OpenOffice are fine for home use, but (having tried) I wouldn't want to rely on them for business use.

Neil

I guess businesses can pay Microsoft prices and set it against tax.

Just get Gimp and LibreOffice for free and have done with Adobe and MS.

Thread: Got a Good Story About Buying a Lathe?
04/06/2017 08:07:43

"and told the seller to put up the BiN price and when he got back home he would take it. It just so happened that I saw the BiN price before the other chap got back home!"

I had something very similar with a BIN I put up for a buyer at a prearranged time. He spent too long over dinner and was late getting to his computer only to find it had gone to someone else. Of course it was my fault.frown

Hi Roger

It would be nice to know where the link will take me to if activated, I am a bit more careful with links following recent activities.

Emgee

Ah sorry, just hover mouse pointer over and it shows where it leads to.

Should be okay for plastic or aluminium but FAR too fast for steel.

There some 5mm on eBay but located in Germany so postage will be quite expensive.

...........

I might Contact Ian and see if he can re weld the last blade, although by the time I've covered postage each way, it probably won't make economic sense.

I've only had one of Ian's blades come apart at the weld. He replaced it free and didn't charge me return postage.

The Ryobi 5530L drill press has the expanding pulley system for speed control

Probably the same as the SIP.

I agree, Michael, the ruling was sensible. However it should be remembered that driving is not the only activity that is dangerous while using mobile phones. The other day I was driving down a narrow road and a woman pushing a small child in a pushchair was walking along the pavement while talking on a phone. Without warning or looking she turned and pushed the pushchair out into the road with the intention of crossing. Fortunately my reactions are still good but she seemed most unconcerned!

Russell

The same happened to me. Women with a child in pushchair and yaking on her phone. Without looking she walked straight off the pavement in front of me. I had to brake hard to stop in time. All I got was an angry glare whilst she carried on talking!

Thread: EBay Rant!

I've found eBay usually take the buyer's side in disputes. However it's worth a try using the "live chat" or better still phone them. I won on one occasion but it was hard work.

Apart from anything else when buying remotely I like to see what I'm getting and a few decent photos make a difference.

I bought some white ones from eBay when I was still working. Now 6 years and countless washings later they are still okay and will outlast me I think. smiley

Hello Simon and welcome to the forum. I'm not too far from you in the outskirts of Gloucester and can see the Cotswold Hills from the garden.
