I have an old "Variac", I have used it on various motors it just adjusts the voltage to reduce the voltage to give a lower speed, I am not an electrical person but would not this work? Haven't blown anything up yet Mick |

Hi Phil, I log in and if I then go to a different website when I return to this site, even 10 minutes later I have to log in again,it is a pain and I have given up trying to work out why. Its probably why I don't post more but I like this forum so the problem is just a sometime irritation Mick |
Thread: Views on the Warco WM14 with 3xDRO |
18/01/2018 20:08:53 |
I have had my WM14 for 2 or 3 years it has given me no problems, on occasion I would have liked a larger table but have managed. I fitted a dro to the x & y axis the machine has a built in z axis readout which has been accurate it uses a button battery which I have only just renewed and the mill has been used a lot, the dro is a really good upgrade although a lot of the functions are a mystery to me but learn as I go along, as I am a confirmed imperial user and much stuff is metric to toggle between both is a help, the dro was bought from Warco, the fitting instructions for the dro were not that good and I done it slightly differently. All in all it has done all I want, the safety shield soon becomes difficult to see through so I removed it and wear safety glasses, also the rubber bed protectors don't last long, I have no experience of other machines and although satisfied with the 14 maybe should have gone with the larger WM16 MICK Edited By Mick Henshall on 18/01/2018 20:10:14 |

Jason- I do like these engines,I am making Rob Roy which has been under way for some years and its a long time to see the final results, these engines would give quicker satisfaction, do you generally fabricate or use castings and which would you recommend for a simple starter engine Mick |

Given the concern around the abundance of plastic why is it used for the wrapper, there must be more environmental friendly alternatives Mick |

I was a Royal Navy Artificer ,Shipwright, the ship is on Sea Trials to sort any snags out, this is a snag, the press as usual just trying to turn run of the mill event into a major catastrophe its a shame they don't what they are talking about, the lads will sort it out just like we always did,Martin makes a good point Mick |
Thread: Parting Off Blues |
15/12/2017 12:58:02 |
Yep Ian I have some parters made from m/c hacksaw blades its what my Gramps used although I have not tried one yet, I did like the recent post where someone used a slitting saw, might try that later long as I can clear swarf, I think firm but not heavy handed on feed is the order of the day, perhaps grinding every other tooth out on the saw would help Mick |
