I helped someone do something similar once but he used mild steel channel as a frame on the floor and sat a machine on it..I had to drill holes in it for the 1/2 inch bolts with a hand held electric drill as there wasnt enough power for anything bigger..Great fun(?)

Given myself a problem now..The Amolco is going to be attached to an ,as yet unbought, xy table which means I ll have to make a bracket of some sort..The best way to do that I suppise is on a milling machine..Aahhh!! Wonder if its worth tryong to find an old Myford lathe bed, grinding it shorter and using a big xy table that fits Myford..I m sure John ,and hope, you will have many years of trouble free milling with your xj12 300 ,I just hope I do!Does anyone know of a big ish milling table that would fit a Myford bed please?

THATS AMORE
When the moon hits your eye
like a big pizza pie
thats Amolco!!!!

Couldnt resist it

I would buy an xy table-I dont have a lathe it would fit..I m sure your mill would make more sense..still not sure though!
26/08/2014 19:26:25
The Amolco doesnt havea table so I can buy one to suit.Only trouble is I havent paid for it yet and am now wondering again..Perhaps I just keep off the forum until I ve got one!

Thank you Russel..I am nit entirely happy with electric things at the best of times but all these machines are more than a little prone to problemsand all I would do is spend more money on replacing the whole lot..I have found something though whichcomes with good easy to replace elctrics, belt drive and imperial measurements..It s an Amolco..It will be adequate for the things I intend to do..and stress free..

I found the threads on the forum and dont want an x2! At least a new amadeal would have a gguarantee .still looking for some older and British that doesnt weightoo much though..

I had decided to buy a new 12 300 in a few months or a lightly used x2 next door to me now..I think they are virtually identical but the x2 only has a 350 w motor-x12- 550, its 15 kg lighter but slightly larger end mill capacity..Womdered if anyone had experience of an x2 with the smaller motor please..
thank you..

14/08/2014 17:25:26

14/08/2014 16:11:54
Millhill-Sherline do im fact do a 0 mt arbor with a chuck..Unfortunately at 1/2 lb weight and ?67 in money it wasnt pointless, just a tad expensive..!
14/08/2014 15:38:50
I m wonder if anyone knows where I might be able to find an MT0 arbor preferably with a drill chuck atached..I ts to use in a miniature lathe built by my Grandfather 60 years ago-I ve finally decided to make something on it!Thank you
