44 forum posts | I had decided to buy a new 12 300 in a few months or a lightly used x2 next door to me now..I think they are virtually identical but the x2 only has a 350 w motor-x12- 550, its 15 kg lighter but slightly larger end mill capacity..Womdered if anyone had experience of an x2 with the smaller motor please.. thank you.. |

![]() 2785 forum posts 87 photos | Have a look at the Seig sX2P. It has a brushless motor which is much better. It's effectively a three phase ac motor with an inverter control. The ratings for endmill capacity have always struck me as somewhat arbitrary. It depends on what you're cutting and how hard you push it. Russell. |

44 forum posts | Thank you Russel..I am nit entirely happy with electric things at the best of times but all these machines are more than a little prone to problemsand all I would do is spend more money on replacing the whole lot..I have found something though whichcomes with good easy to replace elctrics, belt drive and imperial measurements..It s an Amolco..It will be adequate for the things I intend to do..and stress free.. |

![]() 1545 forum posts 484 photos | Jonathon, Just caught up with this thread and had to look up the Amolco mill on lathes.co.uk. I hope you won't be disappointed with it. The table looks minute in the pictures on that site. I have an Amadeal XJ12-300 (if that's what you are referring to in your original post) and, apart from stripping the plastic gears, due to my inexperience, have found it both capable and reliable. I've gradually modified it to my requirements, having fitted a belt drive and 3-axis DRO. It does everything I ask of it and I consider it well worth the money I paid for it. Good luck with your new purchase. John

![]() 1545 forum posts 484 photos | I see. It's the bolt-on accessory mill. I'd assumed it was the standalone version with the tables. I hadn't realised that you wanted it to attach to your lathe. What I said about my mill still stands though! John

44 forum posts | Given myself a problem now..The Amolco is going to be attached to an ,as yet unbought, xy table which means I ll have to make a bracket of some sort..The best way to do that I suppise is on a milling machine..Aahhh!! Wonder if its worth tryong to find an old Myford lathe bed, grinding it shorter and using a big xy table that fits Myford..I m sure John ,and hope, you will have many years of trouble free milling with your xj12 300 ,I just hope I do!Does anyone know of a big ish milling table that would fit a Myford bed please? |
