Did have a good Robot 'dice' with an American muscle car, side by side all the way into top gear, before I had to turn off.
So a European designed 1200 cc car would have totally cained you then.!

. This next post is unashamedly picture heavy.! I feel that will be OK due to the interest in this post so far. A couple of years ago I went to pick the car up from a mechanic we used. Barry had a lifelong tradition of building, maintaining, preparing, driving / riding both race cars and bikes. - He had just finished a TriGreeves and it was in the yard. I later life he handed the driving and riding to younger blades. 'Luckily'.!!!!!!!! I had a camera with me and took a few images of his latest restoration. ------ I say Luckily as Barry sadly died of heart failure 2 days later. (that's Barry in the blue overalls) I feel that due to many of the parts in this project having to be made again from scratch and the fairly modest size of them, plus the general interest (by some) in motorcycles of that era that this post is valid on this forum. (Moderators, please correct me if I am wrong)

In that case you will be needing a table top not just the legs
I am going for the convection air cooled option.

. I realise that there will be not clear 'do it all' answer to this one. I am about to purchase in the next couple of weeks a mill. To go with it along with a clamping kit I will need some type of vice. I don't think blu-tack will suffice will it. So what would be a good starting vice. I know that a good one is a must and a poor quality one is next to useless. So lets say £150 is my topside budget. I intend to start with making models of the Stuart engine size. 1) Do I need to spend that much. 2) Is a jaw width of 100mm about right, or smaller / larger. 3) One with a swivel facility a good idea or would I be sacrificing rigidity. As I said I do realise there is probably not a cover it all solution and as I progress I will probably have to supplement with additional ones. But what is a good starting point.?

. Is there any difference between ISO 68 slideway oil and hydraulic 68 oil.? I also know that hydraulic oil can be used for headstock lubrication. But which grade. 32, 46 or 68.? Does the ambient temp (cooler workshop in winter) make a difference the the choice of headstock lubrication due to colder temps meaning more viscosity. - Or am I looking for problems that don't exist and splitting hairs.

. Thanks for the replies guy's It was the SX2P variant I was considering Vs the SX3 I have actually just popped down to the Warrington branch of Axminster to have a hands on nosey at them both. (yes I do know their 2 variant is not the same as the SX2P) But I thought it would give me some food for thought. ( I will be purchasing from ARC anyway though They are even taking the columns aside totally different critters though. The SX3 is not just a bigger machine it also seems to have a better feel and more finesse. I wonder if Keatan likes homemade cake.???

. Is the Sieg SX2 milling machine sturdy enough for constructing models similar in size to the Stuart range. Or shall I save some more coins and go for a SX3.? Any general points on the machine, both positive and negative I would also be grateful for. Edit :- MT3 or R8 version.? Cheers, Nick Edited By Nick_G on 27/09/2014 12:04:11 |

. If you DID get it from Axminster how long have to had it.? - Can you send it back.? If so for the same money you could get the superior SX3 from that Ketan bloke-fella-guy who's site is advertised on this site. (am I allowed to say that.?)

We and other members of this forum may well be prepared. Unfortunately people living a few doors away probably will not. RFI is no respecter of fence lines.

. As a licensed radio amateur I consider them to be nothing short of the work of the Devil himself.! Many of them from dubious geographical origins (that's most of them then) scatter RFI to infinity an beyond. There is no way if the import laws that are in place regarding such were even half enforced they would be allowed into the country. Many have a badly designed and manufactured switch mode power supply that is the problem. This also extends to many other items sold.
