That looks like a decent power output from a little hot air engine MichaelG. Thanks Michael, really impressed with the Baker Fan and how well they are working on small stirling and steam engines, these were originally designed by a Mr. A.D. Baker to test steam engines and run them in as they left the factory the Baker Company Factory. From Google "A Baker Fan is a simple air-resistance device used run off an engine via a belt and the faster its turned, the harder it is to turn and puts a load on the engine". |

Hi all, a very long time ago my friend Jeff was given a Mamod steam engine by a workmate, as his son was pretty mechanically minded we set about giving the little engine a job of work, cue large wooden box to give it some height when standing on the dining table, followed by constructing a crane from Meccano before securing engine & crane on top of the box giving about 4 feet of lift from floor level, drive train by the beautifully crafted Meccano chain sprockets & chain, the little engine gave the young lad many happy hours & a lifetime later he still harks back to it even though he is approaching retiring age & I of course am older than dirt, happy times. BobH Thanks Bob for that anecdote enjoyed reading it. |

Thanks all and thanks for the links Michael. I have the majority of these old ads framed and up on the walls of the room where my steam engine collection resides. The ephemera really ads a touch of nostalgia. Cheers all, Jim |

Hi there! I just pop My nozzles in a jar of thinners after use, fish them out when needed, give them a quick wipe with paper towel. Pop them back on the can and spray a little paint through before starting the job proper. Cheers, Pete
G'day I like my idea better I have so many different brands of cans and nearly every nozzle is different, this was I know the right nozzle is with the right can. And did you notice that each time I blew the turps out the nozzle it went further as the paint cleared internally? But whatever works best for you....its better than full cans of paint that are blocked! |

My usual method is poking a bristle from a wire brush down the small spray hole and swearing a lot. G'day Hopper, been there mate as well. My swearing came from the next time I went to spray something though because of the big droplets coming out because I'd deformed the nozzle outlet with the wire |

Isn’t the nozzle cleared by a quick press with the can inverted? As explained in the video I spray lots of small parts. There's no way there's going to be enough propellent in the can to keep cleaning the nozzle by inverting it each time I spray something. |

I've got one of the Axminster ones which I bought for use on my drum sander. I believe it is made from raw (un-vulcanised) rubber. Rod Yes it just crumbles up and doesn't get stuck to the belt grit. |
