Thread: Which is the best parting tool ? |
25/06/2014 09:30:46 |
I use a Sandvik parting tool with Sandvik N151-2-200-5E inserts andI find it very good ! It came with the Myford S7 and a couple of spare inserts, looking around the internet for inserts I see plenty of N151-2-300-5E inserts and I gather that the difference between -200- and -300- is the seat size how does it differ ? would the -300- still fit the holder ? Would appreciate advice please. H

Thread: Walking beams |
20/06/2014 21:35:02 |
Just within topic this subject reminded me of many years back when I went to work in a steel works one of my first jobs was to assist in the breakdown repair of what was termed 'walking beam' it moved red hot steel bars down the cooling bed, much like the one in the video and I have to say I was fascinated by them and would often when passing just stop and watch them for a few minutes all those steel bars marching along with military precision ! |
Thread: myford super 7 Riser blocks |
17/06/2014 15:44:24 |
I have some steel which I intend to use to make a pair of riser blocks, looking at the photos in this "link" would I be right in thinking the hex adjusting screws would be something like M16 with 10mm hole ? Looking at the photos seems a straight forward job but would appreciate any tips/advice on said job. Thanks H |

Thread: Tacho |
22/05/2014 21:42:28 |
Ian maybe your sensor is different to mine, the one supplied with my kit is a hall effect type sensor which I understand response to a magnetic field and yours a inductive proximity sensor. like you I check it with a optical tacho and noted very little difference between the two. |

Hi all many of you have no dought already got one but I purchased one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261324169832?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649, it took a couple of weeks to arrive and I fitted it today it works fine I used a charger from a have vac as a power source, so for £12.50 I'm well pleased Edited By Harry Wilkes on 22/05/2014 16:27:13 |

Thread: 3 phase and single phase wiring |
13/05/2014 16:12:46 |
Mike it is as said a 3 phase motor which will run on 415v when connected in start and 240v (3 phase) when connected in delta. You could purchase an inverter to run the motor on 240v and you would then have the benefits that a inverter brings. |

Great idea but yes there are implications if your club is a member of the Southern or Northern Federations then you will find guidelines to what should be done, the way my club have dealt with it is to insist they are accompanied by an adult , sad I know but that's the way it is unfortunately H |
