Thread: Edge Finder |

Having a good understanding of engineering but a beginner with the lathe and mill I recently purchased a book the Milling a complete course. My first impression was favorable but then looking at the jobs to be made I could not understand the logic of the author, tee nuts then afew simple jobs on to a Boring Head to a Dividing Head. These tools are cheap to purchase, the metal to make these would cost as much as the tools to be made on the course. I have found you tube and the virtual machine shop to be my guide now on the best way to use a mill and lathe, one of the best tools I purchased this week was a edge finder for £7.00, Bob do you have a link ? Thread: Long-term battery charging |
12/03/2016 11:31:41 |
The best way i have been told and now use is to very slowly discharge the battery then recharge, I find this works well I connect a small LED light to the battery which takes over 3 months to discharge the battery then recharge. I was told of this many years back by a old timer who looked after the 'battery' dept for a company that had around 120 vehicles, he also told me that you should never leave a battery just standing idle. Harry, Thanks I'll try that later when America wakes up. John John one of the things they suggested I try was to open turbocad in 'administrator' mode and try to reactivate it didn't work for me but whilst your waiting worth a try and if it doesn't work tell them in your email you have tried it, it could save you a dad or two H

Thread: Inverters? Talk to me. |
09/03/2016 15:45:22 |
Hi Involute Curve If the spray booth you refer to is in someone shed then what your suggesting is doggy to say the least, but if it's in an industrial environment then I suggest you you seek expert advice from someone who is conversant with electrical equipment in class 1/2 zones H |

Hi I installed a VFD and three phase motor on a Myford and have been pleased with it ever since. Not to difficult to wire up some people get confused changing the motor to delta but with newer motors this is pretty straight forward I would say HP of motor same for inverter Most VFD's are fairly easy to wire for forward/ reverse jog and speed control all remotly. What brand everyone will have their favorite I got my kit from Transwave Jag cub VDF but I stayed with a imperial motor as I did not want to both with new pulley, plenty of help and advice also from them as well. One thing I can say is that if you get stuck there are some great guy's on this forum who will put you right ! H |
