The UK is not the only country with postal delivery problems. We have a similar problem with Australia Post because of a shortage of courier drivers who have cortracted Covid. Some supermarket shelves are empty because they can't get supplies.

Australia. Now there is a laugh. My diamond tool holders ordered beginning of November still not have arrived, Although I understand that they hit UK customs 4-5 days ago. Apparently the main hold up was Aus customs ( Why would they worry about stuff going OUT?)

In any event i would not bother using Ecentric Engineering again. Not worth the wait. Stuff will have rusted through by the time I get itsad

why send to OZ when they have a UK stockist (just wondering)

It was a prezzie from family so I did not order it. However, I have asked them & it appears that it is a woman working part time with no credit card facility. The cost is no cheaper( actually slightly more) & the set up seemed a bit " mickey mouse". As a result they ordered direct from the manufacturer. It would probably have come from them anyway

Thread: Steam raising blower
09/01/2022 21:16:25

I have a Blackgates one that I keep in my riding on trailer for my 3" Burrell, it will just about raise the fire. Depending the size off engine they do work OK but though I didn't purchase mine I think them expensive for what they are the one I use to raise stem is home made job with speed control, a fellow club member uses a cheap blower for inflatables mounted at 45 degs on a short chimney extension and it works ok on his 4" engine

Thread: Basic DRO
07/01/2022 14:42:08

I fitted a M-DRO to my S7 I'd often thought about fitting one but it was one of those thing one never gets around to do, then I was tempted by a 'few pounds off' for a 3 axis kit at the Midland Model Exb. To date I've not used many of the functions but those I have have proved to be most useful

Thread: Speed Camera Flashes?
06/01/2022 18:49:25
Posted by Juddy on 06/01/2022 11:22:47:

The statement from the OP which seems not to have been picked up by the forum, which I find quite shocking when traveling at 80MPH + is 'Gabbing away to the missus so did not notice the speed increase', how is this possible do you not pay attention to your driving and what speed you are travelling at.

Perhaps if you cannot control your car and the speed you are travelling at you shouldn't be driving. If it hadn't been a speed camera, but instead a pedestrian, cow, deer or horse would you have noticed as you chatted away to your wife at 80mph.

very poor driving, you are in control (or supposed to be) of a lethal machine.

Do we take it you never exceed the speed limit ?

Thread: Highway Code
06/01/2022 16:54:15

The only objection to cycle lanes are local in that I find the one's in and around my town are rearly use with most still riding on the pavement and don't get me started about the nutters that practice their sprint finishes in the park !

Hmmm, New Year's resolution: must buy an up-to-date Highway Code and read it! Do I still need a man with a red flag?

Thread: Westfield Fasteners
31/12/2021 14:51:19
Posted by Allen Norris on 31/12/2021 13:33:45:

I would like to commend Westfield Fasteners. I ran out of a couple of socket head screws yesterday. I ordered them from Westfield yesterday on line and they have arrived here this morning! That is excellent service at any time but between Christmas and New Year it is exceptional. I have no connection with Westfield other than as a very satisfied customer.

I must also mention the good old Post Office who delivered them, well done.

Finally may I wish everyone on this useful forum a Happy New Year for 2022. For someone like me, a wood worker not an engineer it is an invaluable resource and a fountain of wisdom and entertainment.

Happy New Year to you to and all forum members

Thread: The Good & The Bad Of A DPD
30/12/2021 18:00:56

Order a cupboard from a online company, the bad was advised by by email it would be delivered on the 29th Dec and I would receive an email by 11.00 giving me a 1 hr slot, 11.00 came and went no email so phoned supplier who told me my email from DPD was automated and it didn't know the 27th was a bank holiday so it would not be collected until the 29th and would be delivered on the 30th ! The good received said email this morning delivery on time and the driver kindly helped me get it into the hall.

Thread: Speed Camera Flashes?
27/12/2021 18:32:33

Had a few speeding tickets in my time make not excuse if you do the crime pay the fine but one thing that really get my goat is that in the town in which I live we have a mobile speed camera mount on top of a small van, Ive always wondered how someone can do such a job and whilst being a complete hypocrite one more than one occasion Ive followed said vehicle at the end of shift speeding !
