As a matter of interest, when did this sort of equipment start to be fitted in cars?

My Renault is as recent as 2006 registration yet has a radio / cassette player!

It could of course be a custom modification, though I doubt it because the set has controls on the steering-column as well as itself, so not easy or even possible to exchange.

I've not looked closely but I think it has a microphone socket so could take an MP3 device. Perhaps.

I doubt my few old tapes are playable now but anyway I rely on the wireless for my "in-car entertainment"!

Nigel 2015 was the first time I had a car without a CD player

My new car doesn't have a CD player just a USB port so I copied my CD to a memory stick which plays fine however the title of the albums comes up as 'unknown' so my question is it possible to somewhere in the copying to insert the name of the album ?

Is this the privatisation of the NHS creeping in ?

Does it matter as long as you get the service you require, when you require it, at the same cost to you ?

Nigel B.

Is this the privatisation of the NHS creeping in ?

I think no but I think the NHS will use the private sector to easy it's load. My last eye test revealed I have cataracts within two weeks I had my first consultation and an appointment and four weeks later I get my left eye done all this with private eye care.

Many thanks for all your advice. I do intend to make some test pieces using brass hex bar. I think I am getting close to finding the correct size , having found out what does not fit. Job is on hold at the present as my workshop is just to hot to work in, I would rather take my time so as not to damage anything.

Cheers Mike

If you do sort it please let us know what the thread in question is

Thread: noisy new electric motor
12/08/2022 18:52:05
Posted by vic newey on 12/08/2022 17:07:21:

I have an 1/2HP Brooke Crompton motor on one of my lathes, it's started clonking and generally seems to have lost some power as it has to also turn a Victorian overhead countershaft

I thought I'd try a 3/4HP motor and sent for a Clarke one from PowerTools direct which I wired up today and it makes a horrible distracting racket. either set on the bench or under load.

It's dual capacitor and quite a lot smaller than the old heavy Crompton even though it's a bigger HP and as space at the back of the lathe is limited I was pleased when I first opened the box.

I have four lathes and non of the motors make a noise anything like this, they just hum.

O'k, it's a cheap motor but has anyone else got a Clarke motor and is it particularly noisy?

Vic

Do not mess with it send it back for a refund and shop elsewhere

You should be asking why the price keeps going up and why they're now preparing us for a £4000 annual bill, come January next year.

Chris smart meters have some drawbacks so check out the facts and make sure you really want one fitted ! As others have pointed out there other way of finding your load

Without boring everyone I've had eyemsight problems last couple of months but sorted now so when I opened my copy of OG today I was struck by the poor quality of many of the photos. Some of the photos were pale as 'grayed out' some have a blue tint a few were OK so anyone else had a bad copy of the August edition
