Thread: Myford multi stop missing bit
17/06/2014 08:06:46

Thanks guys, that's brilliant Nobby, I really appreciate you doing that, I even know what it weighs to!

Once I have sorted a bit more of his stuff I will get on with making one, I didn't realise the T slot was not in the centre, but from this I will have no problem.

Thanks again Nobby

Hi all,

Help if possible?

My engineering buddy passed away a few months ago and with some of the bits he left me is the Myford multi stop but search as I have many times a piece is still nowhere to be seen. The bit in question is the rectangular piece of cast that bolts onto the back of the bed, looking at photos I would guess around 6in long by 1in square with a T slot down the length of it, if anyone could help with a good photo and some measurements so I could make one out of solid stock etc I would be really grateful as I am trying to use and get working the items so I can make something with them in his memory.

Many thanks Matthew

Thread: Original maching marks on Myford lathe bed
08/05/2014 16:31:00

This is mine at the tailstock end, sorry if its a bad picture best I could get, but it looks like scrape marks on there, if not please tell me what they are?

I am the second owner, the first was a factory where it had little use and came with a pile of bills etc even the original letter confirming the order and when it would be delivered, but nothing of a later regrind. I was always told by an old engineer, who sadly passed away last month, that they are scrape marks? unless someone in the factory had a go?

Hi Adam,

I think they refer to the original hand scrape marks on the bed, usually only see at the tail stock end on a well used lathe.

Can't advise you in this instance but all I can say is what ever cup alloys advise i would take as gospel. They have given me loads of advise over the last few years and all of it has been brilliant, so give them a call and do as they say! Good luck Matt.

I went on google images, loads of conversion chart on there, pinted them off, laminated and hung on a nail in my workshop, like these

Also the magnets from orange hazard lights of plant etc work well, but as above, I know someone who used them for storing files! he could never work out why they didn't cut well.
