Just had this response from my ISP: "In regards to your upload speed issue, the maximum an ADSL line can handle in regards to upload speeds is 1mbps. The upload speed can fluctuate between 1 and 0mbps." Geoff - Will try uploading the video to YouTube again |

Hello Brian, Thanks for the suggestion. I've done a few strokes drawfiling, but will be doing as you suggested. Neil, Never disappoints Geoff - GD sick last two days, with me not feeling too bright either. |
13/03/2017 11:21:48 |
I've given up on getting the video onto YouTube as upload speeds are 3rd World rate at 0.56-0.62Mbps. Those are ZEROES/ZEROS! I've sent an email complaining, but may now need to look for an alternative Broadband, suggestions please. Geoff - Worn out after 4 hours with 5year old at a birthday party, manic doesn't adequately describe their energy. |

Suspense nearly over. Video being uploaded to YouTube right now, so expect a post shortly with link. Geoff - Next one of the Sandblasting Cabinet mods. |

Keep the guesses flowing One is hinting on its usage. BobH, As received. Obviously threads in the block stripped, so re-tapped and a stepped stud fitted, all standard procedure with parts available off-the-shelf from suppliers. About to be sidetracked by investigating induction heater for persuading rusted/stuck fasteners to bahave. Geoff - Finish editing the video first though. |

Hacksaw, Nope. All will be revealed soon, but don't hold your breath. Geoff - I think everyone knows all about my work rate and how I get sidetracked. |

Update time. Out of sequence, but can't help that. Have just about sorted out my bench mounted sandblasting cabinet, from being virtually useless to now doing working. Video to follow. Geoff - Getting ready to bring the body back into the Carport. |

Hacksaw, The Austin has absolutely no idea what you mean. BobH, I stopped watching all TV years ago and do not miss it at all. Robbo, You reading my mind per chance? I did exactly the same as you on my Anglia and Cortina engines in my racing 105E, where the metal bodied drilling machine became too hot to hold. Took me hours, but so satisfying. Geoff - All will be revealed soon.

No need to add anything except that it's been made and working a treat. Geoff - Video of the item in action being edited. |
Thread: Workshop thermal gloves- advice please |

Martin, Missed your request somehow. Been busy on the Austin Seven. I shall be doing a video plus 'show notes' on what I did. As supplied, those bench mounted cabinets are pretty useless, but can be made to behave themselves and produce results as expected. Not quite up to industrial standards on intricate items, but more that adequate for the Austin Seven parts, including the 17" wire wheels, much to my surprise as they only just fit in. Geoff - Need to edit two videos then will do one for the blaster. |

Been a while. Insulate, insulate, insulate. Before, the Garage, now Workshop, would freeze in winter and boil in summer. No longer after vapour barrier, 2" EPS and then chipboard with EPS between the joists. Floor painted and then interlocking 'rubber' mats in front of machines and bench. Never goes below 5° and above 25° when it's well below 0° and 30°+ outside. Fan heater has temp up to 22° in about 30-40min on the coldest day, with an oil heater used to keep it near constant once temp up. Rust now a distant memory thank goodness. Geoff - Just about sorted out one of those bench sandblasting cabinets. |

Grrr. Something else to add to the ever growing list. Like it though, so top of list I think. Geoff - Sorting out one of those ubiquitous bench sandblast cabinets. Edited By OuBallie on 13/01/2017 17:20:41 |

From £178.80 + VAT for starter kit. I have a bundle of cu tube to use, bought years ago, and as usual mocking me for ignoring it/them. Recovering from last night's marathon session with 5year old performing energetic 'plays' for us. Geoff - Where does she get all that energy from!? I could do with some. |

NOT disappointed with the responses I've seen a new advert for what looks like a stone or something similar, BUT I have better things to spend my money on when I can do the same for free pgk pgk, Wouldn't dream of doing so Rod, The beards stays put Geoff - Long Johns time. Photo anyone? |

About two years ago I got well and truly peed off with the prices of said products so did a search to find a way to sharpen them at home. I take no credit for the two methods other than saying they do work as I haven't bought new ones since I started using them. Methods: 1) Rub the blades against a piece of Denim or similar, opposite to the opposite to normal direction of course. Works the quickest on dull blades. 2) Ditto against body hair, arms and legs, and act like strops. Geoff - Waiting in anticipation |

You said it Norman Plus too lazy to pop into town. It only took about 15min total, BUT the satisfaction beats all else unless it's FUBAR of course. Geoff - Girding loins ready to do battle with 5year old later. |

Thanks Maurice, will give them a try. Rick, Full marks to Epson for their 'tank' models. They where scared stiff that the higher price would have killed their idea, but the complete reverse. Other manufacturers WILL have to respond now, and at last, as they have had their years of ripping us of come to an end. On the subject of ripping-us off, what about shaver cartridge blades, I will do a separate post on a no cost method of sharpening. Geoff - Trying to consume a slice of ghastly sweet cream sponge cake from a supermarket (M . . .s) and nearly gagging it's so bad, so out for the birds in the morning |

Haven't posted here fore yonks, so time to rectify. Not ME related, but using the Workshop and tools. Domestic duty this morning: Bog roll holder: This poor beast has been inactive for months, so took pity on the family and in particular the 5 year old, and decided it was high time to resurrect it. The threads the shafts screws into where stripped and it looked as if someone had used thread sealing tape to fix it. Drilled the threads out then Loctited a bit of 10mm scrap bar in and left to cure for a few days. Finished the surgery this afternoon, so family will have the necessary easy to hand once again. Geoff - I would hate to be without my Workshop |
