My workshop is a museum? I quite like that and take it as a compliment.

Avoid Thomas Cook. EasyJet might be worth a try though .

Before further expense, check BIOS to see if you have accidentally disturbed settings for the motherboard WIFI slot. If BIOS = OK then next thing to do is get access to the flat cable going from the screen to the motherboard. Flip the retaining clips on motherboard and re-seat the cable. Check cable for splits/cracks while you are at it.

Today, we outward bound to a grey, bleak but magnificent Dungeness. After a brief stop we returned to Hythe station behind this gleaming beauty.

Tottenham Court road was mostly hi-fi kit by the time I got there years ago.

There used to be a very interesting surplus/junk/treasure shop near Weymouth town bridge sadly now a Spa grocery.

In the 'fifties I used to love a good shufti after school round Cooks of Bedford for the surplus stuff, that's when they were located on the opposite side of the road to Mr.Horsenail the herbalist. Cooks have survived and flourish although these days are suppliers - among other things - of engineering tooling of the new and sparkly kind.

I used to love surplus now I am one!

I'm really pleased that Rowland Emmets "A Quiet Afternoon in the Cloud Cuckoo Valley" sculpture was withdrawn from the auction and sold to the National Railway Museum.

Malc - a fair price is one that you will score on an average ebay auction. To maximise your "win" a nice base would score points. Try it with a reserve that is acceptable to yourself.

Robin -Just to give you an idea, here in our village we are on FTTC and get about 56Mb/s download speed when the wind is in the right direction. Viewing the odd YouTube vid is as much strain as we ever put on the system and the lack of buffering is lush. We have used different providers in the past but have found that when things go belly up they blame BT - and of course, BT blame them. So we KISS and stick with BT.

I have two of the WORKZONE make and apart from one small thing I am quite content with them. The one "small thing" is the flimsy battery cover on the "instruments" which over time on one of them has worn on one edge and fails to lock the battery in position without an unsightly winding of sticky tape.

I performed minor corrective surgery this afternoon using a thin alu strap and ended up so:

I used the hand held pin chuck to drill the plastic case as I suspected there would be circuit/components below the screw holes (2.5mm) and so it turned out to be

Only a piddling job I know but I no longer have to wince at that mess of tape.

Kiwi Bloke - I made a tissue paper hot air balloon for the kids many years ago and read in the book of ‘structions that it was illegal to “take fire aloft” in some states across the pond. Here in the UK we are a bit more relaxed but some folk do take liberties. Vast quantities of hot air commonly rise over regional and central seats of government for instance.

I have never tried fitting my seven cylinder radial in an air frame but it CAN lift my spirits when I run it up. (I didn’t build it by the way.)

I use one of those generic insert holders that takes 3mm wide tips. I use an assortment of grades which I nab on ebay when they slip through in my price range. Sometimes with flood coolant but more often than not without. I don't have a rear mounted toolpost. Due to an enhanced sense of self preservation for both me and my kit I always feed in by hand. Using this tool holder I don't bother with HSS.

Manfred - I took the little lathe to the firm in the link and they matched the o-rings to it. By the way, I tried polyurethane / hot knife belting route but it did not work - I recommend the o-ring option as the way to go. Good luck.

Hello Manfred - I have a Record ML-210 mini lathe (Toyo look-a-like) which uses those o-ring type drive belts. I managed to obtain some spares local to me from here:

Fusion 360 has now got one of those infuriating splashes on the “can” declaring “NEW, IMPROVED”. To explain, I have just watched a Fusion 360 vid about the NEW UI toolbar vs. the old one. I am quite pleased that I have not spent too much time learning about the old version because listening to the two vid presenters, the new toolbar is the way to go and I plan to go that way also.

Only problem is that much of the currently available tutorials / vids cater for the inferior taste of the old and not the delicious “NEW, IMPROVED”

I am never to happy when having to use an angle grinder. A chain saw even less so but in one workshop I have "fettled" in for a living the machinists would run a mile if a job came up for the grunty old Butler slotter. I know of at least two occasions when aforementioned machine demonstrated its taste for human flesh.
